Some confusion over this hotel and the Holiday Inn Esplanade next door! Small fridge with a door that banged against the cupboard it was situated within every time it was opened or closed. That said, we enjoyed our 4 night stay. Right on the Esplanade and within walking distance of city attractions and eateries. King size bed was comfortable. The work desk was a bonus - very well set up. Nice flat screen TV and abundant power points. Complimentary on site parking. We'd definitely stay here again but would request an ocean view room next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an ocean view

Greetings Sam and Jude,
Many thanks for your positive review of our Hotel, we are very happy that you were pleased with the location and your room.
There are definitely some very beautiful views of the harbour from our Hotel, on your return we will ensure that you are upgraded to one of our harbour view rooms to enjoy the sites.
You may also wish to visit Kakadu, the Crocodile Holiday Inn is a great place to stay and is very central to all of the wonderful scenery and rock art sites such as Ubirr Rock and Nourlangie. A cruise on Yellow Waters is a must to see all the local flora and fauna including the majestic crocodile in its own habitat.
Best wishes on your future journeys.

Not impressed with Holiday Inn today (2nd day)...
First I get back to my room and it hasn't been serviced - they just put fresh towels in that was all; Bed not made and toiletries not restocked
Then went to have a swim and the pool was disgusting, there was a oil slick on all the tiles that surround the pool and the water was murky like it hadn't been cleaned in a week.
Day 3 the room servicing was still average. Bathroom was done completely but the bed had one bit tucked in and that was it... sheets still hanging out and pillows not even touched.
The hotel is Old and tired, and when you get out of the lift its a bit of a let down and unwelcoming; but the rooms are OK, modern furiture... Its just the service that is less than impressive
Don't think I'll be staying here again, hope they give me a customer dis-satisfaction survey

This review is for 122 The Esplanade. Just to confuse tourists, the next building is also a Holiday Inn!

Nice modern and clean facilities, spacious room. Unfortunately the king size bed was too firm. Laundry facilities decently priced at $4, but the dryer didn't really dry.

Major disappointment was the noisy industrial air conditioning fan situated outside the room. Being a tropical Darwin, it's running 24/7, and measured at a loud 54dB within the room, I wouldn't recommend it for a good nights sleep. Ask for another room.

Unfortunately we did not have time to try the dining and pool facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 2, and 3, on the first few levels are exposed to loud external fan noise.

I'm currently staying at this hotel - 122 The esplanade to avoid confusion, as there is another holiday inn just next door. The two hotels share facilities.

Reception was friendly and welcoming and the beds are large and comfortable. The rooms are rather dated, especially the bathroom which has an ugly plastic loo and bath and is rather cramped if you have more than one person staying in a room!!

I have an ocean view, which is fantastic. Sadly there are some old chips and fag ash on the balcony making it less inviting, plus it is too small for a chair if one wanted to sit out (probably discouraged by hotel anyhow).

The hallways are tired and drab. The pool is a good size with lots of sun loungers and right next to the bar/restaurant, which is a plus.

The big plus of this hotel is its proximity to the town centre and park and views of the coast. A refurb soon would benefit this hotel!! I have not eaten here, as there is so much variety just a short walk away.

We arrived at the holiday inn to a very warm humid welcome, for our 5 night stay, room was nice on the first floor, the view was OK, compared to some euro hotels room was quite spacious, and bed was comfy which was a nice surprise, one negative was tiny white bugs on the surfaces at night, we know we were in Aus but felt it could of been addressed, we did report this and I don't think we were believed which was disappointing, noticed one review about breakfast being poor, could not disagree more, we had no complaints what so ever, in fact my partner commented on the poached eggs some of the best she's had, although would have liked the option to just have toast and coffee instead of paying for a full/continental breakfast. The pool brought welcome relief from the heat. I would recommend this hotel for locality, peacefulness and the breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have sea view on the higher levels.

Just finished a seven night stay in Darwin, this was a comfortable hotel although there were a few problems.
Pros: good room size (had two rooms one on 9 & one on 5), great views of ocean front, good restaurant and pool area.
Cons: bathrooms are out dated, cleaning just scrapes in and the air conditioning (I think it was about to undergo maintenance) was poor - completly died at one stage and we had to relocate room.
This is a good spot to be in Darwin as it is central, the rooms could be better with the addition of ceiling fans as the air conditioner shuts down when you leave the room and the room becomes stuffy. The staff are friendly, all were young and cabable. I would recommend this accommodation for shorter stays.

Room Tip: The ocean view is beautiful.

Stayed for 5 nights in October. Great location, close to lots of restaurants etc. Large room with harbour view. We found the price good for Darwin as hotels are quite pricey. Air conditioning unit a bit loud but very effective. The bathroom could do with a refurb. Staff helpful and efficient. Whatever happened to free wi-fi in hotels?
