10 out of 10, this tour 'ticked all the boxes' for us and was the best thing we did in our week stay in the Top End. A small tour group meant that it was a very personalized experience with Neville (Nifty), our driver and guide flexibly adapting the bush walks and swimming to suit his clients. From pick up Neville was full of information about Darwin and areas we drove through to get to the park. Having many years of tourism experience Australia wide Neville was able to show us some of the best spots and wildlife and enthusiastically tell us all about them.
Highlights were the incredible termite mounds, swimming in the Buley waterholes, Florence falls, walking through the bush and mangrove areas and seeing the baby Rock Wallaby and Bower bird's 'bower'.
Also included in the tour is a jumping crocodile cruise run by Spectacular Crocodile Cruises. This too was brilliant and we saw many crocs in the Adelaide river but also, unexpectedly, we were treated to a close up of the birds of prey coming in to collect food thrown from the boat.
Our return to Darwin included a cultural experience with an aboriginal family who gave us a traditional welcome, talked to us about bush tucker and living off the land, demonstrated weaving and digeridoo playing and answered our many questions. This was a wonderful end to the trip but even after this we took a slightly different route back to see other areas of interest from the bus.
Last but not least - food and plenty of it! Nifty provided healthy and appetizing morning tea, and lunch and even provided cookies to go with the tea and coffee offered before the croc cruise.
A very memorable day - thank you Nifty and Offroaddreaming - we will do another tour with you next time.
