“great vego options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

I love this cafe, except it's too hot sitting outside in the build-up. It is true it's a no-frills environment so don't go for the atmosphere.

Do go because they have so many vegetarian options! Very unusual in Darwin. All the food is delicious. Then take yourself to Martins when you're sick of the food here.

“Great vegan options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Had brunch here one morning while the markets were on, so the place was very busy. Great service, food arrived really quickly. Lentil pattie was delicious - nicely spiced and coated in sesame seeds. Loved it! Will definitely visit again next time we're in Darwin.

“Crusty but cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Don't expect 5 star cuisine but the food is fresh, reasonably priced with a reasonable variety of hot food and cold cabinet options including vegetarian. Not a big fan of the supermarket white bread though. The smoothies and frappes are tasty and the freshly cooked muffins are awesome. Perhaps another glutenfree option wouldn't go astray although the GF brownies are really nice when they have them. The ambience is laid back and staff are friendly and it's usually several degrees cooler due to the large banyan trees enclosing it and the wind tunnel coming through the mall. An interesting phenomenon is the transmission of sound from one side of the cafe to the other via the arched canvas ceiling so you can often hear quite clearly what people on the other side are saying and vica versa. A bit crusty but a great place to relax.

“Average at best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

Went with a group of people for breakfast one morning. I ordered simple poached eggs and bacon. For the price I was expecting lovely floaty eggs. Instead they were rubbery and buttery out of one of those 'poaching' dishes. I may as well have ordered fried eggs! Also not very hot when they cane out. Getting humbugged by 'locals' also doesn't help. Serving sizes were ok... A friend got the fruit toast and it was a very large serve!

The cakes looked yummy and I wouldn't mind going back to try them, but I wouldn't bother with sit down breakfast again.
