“Great food, great atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

I go to the Groove on a weekly basis. It is so relaxed and cool and the food is great. It has a lovely atmosphere and is a nice chilled place to catch up with friends. The vegetarian options are plentiful and drinks are delicious. It is my favourite place to hang out with friends or read the paper. Their iced mocha is the best around.

“Funky little gem tucked away in the suburbs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We have been enjoying our visits to the Groove Cafe on Saturday mornings for months now, and it's always busy when we go, which is naturally a positive sign. It is located in the middle of the shopping precinct in Nightcliff, a suburb about 10km out of the city centre, and probably due to this tends to attract locals rather than backpackers. But if you do venture out of the city centre then it is worth paying a visit. There is an interesting and varied selection of food and drinks on the menu, in particular the milkshakes and the organic teas are really nice. I have to admit that I haven't had a chance to try the food yet, but (hope I can say this in a review!) have been told by someone I know that the veggie nachos are amazing so will definitely be going there for lunch too at some point! There are lots of organic and veggie/vegan options, and the coffee is also organic and fair trade.

I have found the service to be always friendly, and what is especially appealing about the cafe is the laid-back, bohemian atmosphere- the seating is all outside in a courtyard, underneath the shade of an awning and a massive fig tree, with chill-out/indie music playing in the background. The cafe is linked with an 'alternative' shop next door to it selling incense, clothes, unusual furniture amongst other things.

There is also an interesting noticeboard outside the shop where people can advertise things of local interest so it's useful if you're new and want to find out about what's on in Darwin or have anything you need to buy or sell.
