The World War 2 Military Museum at East Point shows all about the bombing of Darwin and it’s very well done. You will need a car (or a taxi) to get to there as it is around 7km away from the Darwin GPO. It doesn't look much from the roadside, but inside is very different.
There is a small souvenir shop and kiosk. Once you enter the exhibits there is a variety of things on display including a theatre which gives you an indication of what happened when Darwin was bombed.
Outside you can wander along the paths amongst the big shady trees where the trucks, machinery, equipment and sheds with more displays (some air-conditioned) are. Finally there are some huge bunkers which you can explore - some areas are air-conditioned as well.
Well worth the visit.
