Excellent choice: great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable and quiet.

I had a couple of nights here on business. It is one street back from Mitchell St so the entrance has a back lane feel. I was on the 7th floor, a comfortable single and a double (high praise from one with a bad back). TV with local channels and in-house movies, too pricy at $15 a pop. Mitchell St is the evening heart, heaps of eats at a range of prices, thre pubs, Shennanugans, Fox and Fiddle and Kitty O'Sheas all a great place to watch the rugby state of origin one night and the Greece Australia football the next. Darwin was overrun with lawn bowlers for a national tournament, most of which were at the Central. There is a buffet breakfast downstairs which is good value.
Bath and shower were spotless, plenty of good towels.
24 hr supermarket across the way. Choice of internet cafes nearby.
Connecting bus to the railway station is across the road behind the backpacker block (far cheaper than the cab, it is a long way out of town)

Although this is a nice hotel in a good location I feel that the "bad" outweighs the "good". Upon arrival we were met with rude and unfriendly staff who provided little or no information in relation to our stay and the services provided. Vallet parking wasnt offered and we were met with contempt towards our request. Throughout our stay we found litle things such as recycled toiletries, poor room service menu, which didn't include any drinks or desserts, tempermental key lock, the pool did not live up to its expectations, poor entertainment services ie in house movies, radio didnt work, and mis information from staff. Lets not forget the food. The rooom service menu was poor, food was cold and stale, half the order left off but we were charged for.

Good things:
The most comfortable beds we have even slept in in a hotel, airconditioning was fantastic, spotless room, hotel was immaculate and very quiet. The night staff were wonderful, friendly and curtious, especially Jason and Tamara. Great security.

All in all, lovely stay but feel hotel management need to improve on (day) staff training and upgrade room service menu.

Pretty poor! Bad value, wouldn't let us park our own (rather tempermental) car, all restaurants shut for a function with no warning when we booked our room earlier that day, rude staff & v expensive for what you get!
