Visiting Darwin for a business trip, and being a woman on her own, I wanted somewhere central, but economical. My request for non smoking was met, I was given a large first floor room, but obviously for handicapped as bathroom equipped like a hospital bath room. There was absolutely NO view, as the window was under the awning of the main entrance - getting to the front door of this hotel after hours when all other entrances are locked is another story! Neon lights shone through the window blinds no matter how hard I tried to block them.
There were no tea bags, etc in the room the first night, but the second night this had been rectified. The bar fridge was turned OFF, so in this hot city, no cold water and no drinks in the fridge at all, despite the hotel stating there would be full bar fridge facilities.
This became awkward as I did not want to go outside the hotel to buy food and drink, and there was only an Indian restaurant inside the hotel. There was a charge back menu from surrounding cafes, but not to my liking. I had to venture out to find suitable food. The airconditioning was working which was essential because it was Darwin, but could not be altered, so I had to get into bed to stop feeling so cold!
However the room was very clean, bed comfortable and reception rang through with a wake up call at 5am as requested.
Next time will request room with view as Darwin is very beautiful.
Great for tourists wishing to walk around town as central, and near the mall which is handy for overseas visitors. 2 quick blocks to the gardens and walking paths along the foreshore with wonderful views.
