The Saville Suites Darwin is an excellent property, well located to the city centre and overlooking the harbour. Views from harbourside apartments are great.

Breakfasts in the Saville are good but expensive when compared to the excellent breakfasts available just outside the door and along Mitchell Street. The bar and restaurant appeared understaffed and getting a drink by the pool and in the bar required a native tracker and a hunting dog. These facilities appeared to be cost manged instead
of service managed as a result we avoided making the Saville our social centre while we were in Darwin and ate and drank elsewhere.
A pity because the kitchen did an excellent job and is credit to Saville.

Staff generally are friendly and efficient but we were surpirsed by the unnecessarily officious rejection of our request for a 2 hour extension of our checkout time after a 7 day stay at full rack rate. This problem was redressed after some discussion and inconvenince. Value for money at the rate charged is questionable as the Saville doesn't offer free internet access; parking; newspapers; or cable tv. Such tv as is available is of poor standard.

Our suite came as advertised, clean, well equipped and fresh. Some of the upholstery was ready for updating. The airconditioning was excellent and easy to adjust.

We stayed in a one bed apartment in August and echo the advice to make sure to request a room with a view of the harbour and not to the side. The views are excellent but not worth the price of the room -after all you could just walk outside and see the same view for free! The staff were unhelpful and rude both to us and to other people we witnessed them dealing with at reception. Not what Id expect from a hotel of this standard. Overall the hotel was fine, lovely room but in my opinion not value for money.

I stayed in a one bedroom Harbour View Apartment for three nights recently. The view from the balcony was great, particularly at Sunset but it was stinking hot out there in the daytime and only slightly less hot late at night. The airconditioning in the flat was excellent however.

Breakfast prices are a joke in the hotel cafe on the ground floor at A$26 for a hot and cold buffet, $20 for a "continental breakfast" and about $15 for toast and coffee. Go out the back door of the hotel and through the arcade in front of you to the Cafe Uno to the left as you exit the arcade for a hot breakfast for half the price, There is a place on the right of that arcade that I do not recommend for the awful "omelette" - some kind of rubbery egg pan pizza is what comes to mind.

The male staff I encountered on reception are lazy and argumentative so don't bother asking for assistance. House keeping was good and the apartment I was in was exactly like the hotel photos and the candid photos shown so far.

Sunsets were wonderful as many reviewers before me mentioned but I saw no photos to show what they were talking about, so excuse me for giving you a series of them. Here you will see the sun go down rapidly - you need to click away quickly or you will miss the sun going down. Wonderful!

This is an excellent hotel facing on to the espanade and backing on to the main street (Mitchells Street) Ask for a room looking out to sea and experience a great sunset. Good sized room with balcony and chairs. Clean and comfortable and well equipped. Good service. Restaurant menu not too exciting. Breakfast fine but nothing special. There is not much to do in Darwin so a good hotel location is important and this is a great location. Some hotels are not close to Mitchells street and located in some tacky areas.
