Let me start off by saying that we did not end up staying at this property as a result of the service received. Having said that, the location is great and the hotel does look very clean and well presented.
My husband and I went physically in to reception to get a quote for a 1 bedroom apartment plus kitchenette. The lady at reception was very helpful and offered us a quote for X and even took the time to write the quote on an Adina Business Card. We advised that we would be back the next day to confirm a booking of either 10 days or two weeks.
We agin physically went in to the Adina Hotel the next day and say another lady at reception. Again, the lady was helpful, however, advised us that we could not have received the quote we did the previous day. As we didn't have the business card with the quote on us, we asked the lady to hold the room [I filled out all the relevant paperwork]. We were given another quote - much, much more expensive than the previous day. When we explained the situation to the lady, she advised us to come in the next day to speak to the Manager Gabby, I think, and that the Manager would be able to confirm whether she would honour the quote.
As promised, we went in the next morning as scheduled and asked to speak to the Manager. The lady at reception said that her Manager had just walked in and that she would go and get her for us ... requesting whether she could pass on as to why we wanted to see her. We obliged showing her the Adina business card with the quote on it. The lady from reception went out the back - for quite some time. When she returned she was quite embarrassed to pass on the message from her manager who had said .. "can you just send her a message about this or just book on-line, as she doesn't have time to speak to you now"... OUCH! We of course left extremely disappointed.
In the reception area, we decided to check the on-line price from the hotel website itself. Yet again, we received a different quote. Dearer than the first quote provided, but much cheaper than the second quote provided. So that is 3 different prices [from the hotel itself, not differing web sites or any other agent]. Some consistency would be appreciated! Stop changing your prices, with ridiculously differing degrees!! And some service from the Manager would also have been appreciated.
On our drive home, we happened past the Mantra Pandanus on Knuckey Street, Darwin. We decided to try our luck there. We walked in, were greeted super well and provided with a quote. When we asked whether the quote would be honoured - we were given a puzzled look. Without even asking, the young lady at reception went out the back and asked her Manager Laura to come out, which she did immediately. Laura assured us that all quotes provided would be honoured and that we could phone or email her direct if we had any further questions or requirements. Now that is service!! Not what we were served up at the Adina!!!
Needless to say, I rang the Adina and asked them to cancel the hold on the room and to absolutely shred all my details that I had provided them with to hold the room. We then immediately booked the Mantra [which by the way was a bit more expensive than the Adina]. I would rather give my hard earned money to a hotel chain that wants our business than one that couldn't care less whether we stayed there or not...
