“The Acor group should be ashamed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I have NOTHING positive to say about this hotel.
We arrived to be given a filthy room - black marks filled the toilet bowl, shower grout was black, bathroom cabinets were filthy, net curtains were filthy as fly swatted all over them, the outside patio table was dirty and covered with bird crap and the whole area needed sweeping.
We had arrived late for a one night stay and as we were going out that evening to sounds of silence dinner we informed reception but said we would put up with it for one night - however a joker of an employee on the front desk did say - "well I know the cleaners go in the rooms but I don't know what they do" - well maybe he should know and better still role swap for a day.
That night the toilet blocked so on calling reception were told that maintenance didn't start until 8am - so had to walk to main block for toilet !!!
We were returning after a one night trip to Alice so we asked for a better and cleaner room when we returned - which they agreed they would do for us.
By the way we had breakfast before we left - $72 for a buffet and a continental offering - yet another rip off as far as choice and quality are concerned !!
Well - we returned and did get another room - dead flies on the ceiling, dirty bathroom etc etc etc - so we checked out and upgraded to Sails - different planet as far as quality is concerned.
I have stayed in so many Acor group hotels - all over France, UK and now Australia and this place is the worst example of the group I have ever had the misfortune to stay in - and the most expensive at $285 for one nights stay.
This maybe the economy option from Acor here but there is NO possible excuse for the filth and the poor staff - I suggest that senior management should stay here on their next property visit and get a "Guest's Eye View"

We stayed in a deluxe rock view room with balcony. The room was clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious, quiet, well equipped. The bathroom toiletries were supplied & topped up daily. The view of the rock was ok, it's not that close though. There are laundry facilities at the resort which were free to use. Swimming pool was ok, guest towels provided & poolside shower. The room check in time could be an hour or two earlier, as many of us had trips planned in the afternoon & all our luggage had to be left (outside the lobby). Supermarket on site was a bit expensive but this place is miles from anywhere. Had dinner (do it yourself BBQ) at the Outback, great fun & great live music. Take your room key with you to the bar if you want to buy a drink at the bar. We would go back again.

All lodging at ayers rock are operating in a monopoly.
The result is a pricy poor and bad service accommodation
The food is as poor and pricy

It is really shameful as the area and both the Uluru and the sisters is beautiful.

Room Tip: If you are Australian do something to break the monopoly

Hi Zeevi123

Thank you for your feedback.
Your comments are very general and give me no detail as to what particular issues you may have had during your stay.
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia operate all of the hotels at the resort and we have different pricing options available.

I am sorry to hear that you did not take advantage of our many free cultural activities or engage with our wonderful Indigenous staff to learn more about the unique area which we are proud to share.

Kind Regards

In addition to the surrounding beauty and sheer expanse, the Desert Gardens Hotel within the resort provides a relaxed and comfortable place to stay, eat and sleep. What I enjoyed most was the our interactions with the staff, warm and friendly, very professional and all bringing different experiences to the hotel.Make time to connect and chat with them, your holiday will be all the more enjoyable for it! Make sure you do the Desert Awakenings tour. Our guide Ned Thompson is a national treasure!

We were very happy with the accommodation. Spacious room and bathroom. However the toilet did block up, but was fixed really quickly. Room service from the restaurant was terrible. We paid almost $60 for a meal for 2, which looked and tasted like tinned spaghetti! Breakfast was included in our package and was fine. Lots to choose from and the staff were friendly. Staff at reception went out of there way to make sure we were happy and were very helpful in helping us make decisions in tours etc.

Rooms just about ok but everything else suffered from lack of competition. Breakfast was expensive- our most expensive to date in Oz and was under staffed and under stocked. We had the buffet dinner at the Pioneer pub which was good but the Italian in the village though good was long waits for tables. Walking around the site at night was dangerous as so many lights were out. A general air of neglect

Room Tip: Try the sails in the desert

The Ayers Rock Resort company have this place sewn up. However the hotel bungalows were good but ours was a long walk from the reception area, not great in 44degrees. The hotel breakfast was good but if you are traveling as a couple or less try to avoid having breakfast when the groups come in. As you can be overwhelmed.
