We stayed at Emu Walk Appts for 3 nights in early Nov 2013. The 2 bedroom appt (225) was in 2 levels and was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. All the facilities were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The airconditioning was fantastic and cooled both the bedrooms and the living areas well even though it was 38 degrees each day. The pool was refreshing and shaded by tress in the afternoon which is just what we needed in the heat. The fully self contained appt catered for everything we needed. We felt that the price was high but acceptable given the remoteness and if we wanted we could have cooked in our own appt every night and saved money instead of going to the restaurants. The local supermarket is good but again pricey. Stock up on the basics if driving from Alice Springs. The appt check-in and out were fast and the reception staff were very helpful in booking restaurants and the Astra stargazing which was fantastic. We were lucky to see a falling star in the first few minutes which the guys running the tour were happy to take credit for. Three nights were enough to see Uluru ( 8am free guided Mala walk a must ) and the sunset was breath taking. The high temp and wind closed the Rock climb all 3 days but after taking the guided walk we decided that we would respect the local people and not take the climb. The Olgas were great and the walks were more strenuous but found that by 11am the heat was really affecting us. Bring lots of water, atleast half a litre per person every hour. The views and over welming size of the Olga rock formations were great but the aura of Uluru is something spiritual. A fantastic experience even though expensive but one everyone should do atleast once. Highly recommend to make the journey and experience it for yourself b/c no amount of photos and Getaway specials on TV can give you the feeling you get when you see it all in front of you.

We stayed in Emu Walk Apartments for 3 nights. It is value for money, located in the centre of Ayer Rocks Resort. Clean, comfortable and quiet. We lived in first floor and easily to see sunset of Uluru directly from room.

Room Tip: Choose first floor room, you can see Sunset of Uluru directly from room

Well I was showing a cousin from UK around Oz...she had seen Melb, (Puffing BIlly, Great Ocean Road, City) and was off to Bris and Syd before flying home. I said "well you cant come to Oz and not see the outback" And I hadnt seen Uluru either, so I booked 4 nights at Emu Walk apartments. We had a great time! She had the double bed and I was happy with the fold out couch...bathroom and kitchen were clean. Dining options: I think the Pioneer Village is the best value by far..she had the Australian Animal BBQ (kangaroo, corocodile, buffallo etc)...I'm vegetarian so was more than pleased with the all you can eat buffet of salad and vegs! About $24 a head. By comparison Sails in the Desert Buffet was $65 a head but much swankier! Warning NT liquor laws are a bit unexpected...only allowed to buy take away alcohol from Pioneer Village and then only one bottle of wine and a 6 pack of beer..no UDL. Tours were great...recommend Sounds of Silence - a lovely last night experience - (again, vegetarians could have been better catered for, but this is nothing unusual). We did the Camel ride, Desert Awkenings, Sounds of Silence, and a trip to the Olgas plus a few free activities. Would I recommend this to friends, absolutely!!

We stayed there for three nights - it was a conscious cost choice because the other locations at Ayers Rock Resort were coming up a little on the expensive side.
It's all controlled by one company anyway - called Voyages.
So if you are happy with self catering then Emu Walk is fine. A bit in a time warp as far as the interior is concerned but more than adequate and very clean.
We slept well and ate our breakfasts there (as and when we wanted), getting the food from the on complex supermarket.
Perfectly fine - but you have to accept that this is self catering

All accommodation is incredibly pricy here but we were reasonably happy with our two night stay at Emu Walk Apartments. It was convenient to walk to the nearby town centre and supermarket, to the Desert Garden Hotel and to the Sails Hotel. We also walked across to the Pioneer Hotel and to the Camel Ground - the latter was quite a way but all these were also accessible by using the free bus shuttle as an alternative.

The apartment had a bedroom, large sitting room/dining room with sofa/bed, kitchen and bathroom, and balcony. The air conditioning was noisy but very effective. Basic TV but included CNN. Wifi was chargeable but we used the free service in the Sails Hotel lobby instead.

This is very comfortable accommodation well placed to explore the iconic attractions of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Given the harsh environment and the heat it was a real pleasure to be able to return to comfortable surroundings with excellent air conditioning after exploring the local attractions which was at times hot and thirsty work. The option of being able to chill next to the pools in adjoining properties was welcome in the heat of the day as was the acess provided to their range of bars and restaurants.

The ability to self-cater was welcome although the quality of some of the cookware left quite a bit to be desired. Other than that the beds were very comfortable and the furnishing was perfectly adequate. The one strange aspect was the need to walk to the outback pioneer resort to purchase alcohol and finding that individual quantity limits applied and proof of residence in the resort was required for any purchase. I understand and applaud the local community's desire for a dry community but anyone wanting to bootleg alcohol to the community would not pay the resort prices!

Our family of five booked in for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom at emu walk apartments. Before this we were camping in the desert and lost track of time so we arrived a day late. They were able to change our dates by shuffling other bookings around so we didn't have to change rooms. Much appreciated.
Check in is hard to find and is actually in Desert Gardens Hotel.
The apartment itself was surprisingly spacious and great for a family who may be stuck inside when the temperature outside tops 40.
Air conditioning worked a treat and there was a lot of rails to hang clothes after we washed a huge load (there is a free laundry at the other end of the complex).
Bathroom and kitchen was clean and everything we needed for a self catering stay was provided. We just went to the well stocked IGA (5 min walk) and loaded up on groceries. Food is expensive but nothing compared to eating out.
Both pools (Desert garden and Sails) are 5 mins walk.
Great value option for a family in this part of the world.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom apartment for a family. Book well in advance during winter.
