“Good hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

The hostel is one of the best I've stayed in. Very clean, spacious, has bathrooms in every room. I saw several senior couples stayed there. Convenient central location.
Downsides: old and dirty sheets, dying air conditioner, expensive laundry, receprion closes at 8pm

We wanted somewhere cheap as we were only going to be leaving our things there as we were doing the Uluru in a day trip. We booked a private room.
When I was walked into the room we were first allocated there were already people sleeping in there so I went to the reception to complain and they were rude making out that there was no one in that room- there was and man was sleeping on the bed!
When we finally got to our actual room I was dissapointed as it was a standard backpacker room (we had stayed in many other places on our trip to NZ and Australia which were both private and backpacker and the private rooms were always different). None of the lights or plug switches worked, the kettle did not work, the tv remote did not work. The beds were cheap and the sheets etc had holes in them.
The worst part was after we arrived back to Haven after midnight after our trip to Uluru our key to get in the resort was no longer working! My husband had to climb over the gate and knock on the door to ask another guest, who was luckily sitting in the reception, let him in the door so he could ring someone to sort out our key. When they did come to sort it out they were rude as they had to get out of bed.
The worst place I have ever stayed!

I stayed just one night in this place, arrived late and left early. What I appreciated is that there was a bathroom in each dorm, the rooms were spacious and there was hot water. Also, there is a simple breakfast for free. The only thing I would change is that we only got sheets, no blankets or duvets, and it was pretty cold at night. Generally I can recommend the place.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

I stayed one night as part of an adventure tour. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm. The sheet on the bed had not been changed and was dirty. The 'clean' sheet had holes in it. The tiny bathroom was covered in hair and the toilet had skidmarks.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012 via mobile

I've been there for a couple of night during a tour. The hostel is clean and tidy, with nice facilities and kind staff. As most of the hostels in Alice Springs it's a one-night-and-go place.
A little bit overcrowed during checkout and breakfast time.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

I only stayed here for one night and was fortunate enough to only have to share the 8-bed dorm I stayed in with one other person. The room had on en suite and was clean and quiet at night. Nothing special, but definitely better than some of the places I stayed in on my trip. Fine for a night or so...

I spend 3 nights in the Haven Backpackers!
It was a really good atmosphere. The rooms are big (the air-con didn't work when I was there). Bathrooms attached to the rooms. Nice BBQ Area outside and free breakfast every morning, at the weekend with pancakes!
The location is pretty good, 10 min. walk into the city and to the next supermarket.
Pick-Up Service included.
The staff could be a little nicer, but all in all very good!
