“Have to agree AVOID at all cost”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2009

Our stay was part of a 7day holiday package I can honestly tell you the best part was leaving .It was in my opinion truly horrible.
I can confirm the bad smell of raw sewage of other review. our stay was just earlier 10/10/09-17/10/09
The drains in my room gurgled each time the next room used there bath room and backed up when we showered or used the sink. Had to ask to get fixed.
No alarm clock in my room and was never supplied (7 days) .Room service do the bare minim and cut corners, don't vacuum often.
Sheets were not changed on the correct day ..Had to go and get towels as room service forgot to replace them in both rooms. On another occasion. we ran out of toilet paper. ..
At breakfast we found dirty looking cutlery, mugs with ring stains inside and grubby gasses so we picked through them to find a clean one.. To be fair this did improve after about 3 or 4 days into our our stay
All the hot food had big metal lids concealing the contents so each lid needed to be lifted until you found what you were looking for ( just like a mess hall)
The same food ,no variation except one morning when some food was just completely missing.A German guest tried complaining to me (mistaking me for staff) but I was in the same situation looking for food and staff..
Closed one pool so had to use the public one used by guest and any non guest who drinks at Bar.Oasis
Closed restaurant and out side area for local private function. so we had to have our last night "restaurant" meal in the public bar..
NO room service, have to eat expensive pub counter meals instead.
The manager had no real answer when we talked to him about our problems but offered us a drink and apologised. .
We have passed on our problems to the head office in Sydney

Positive aspects: incredibly helpful office staff, good bar food, close to town

Not-so-positive: Both our room and our friends' room had a definite sewer smell, barbed wire on the fence behind our room, extremely uncomfortable beds, and the swimming pool was so filthy it was green with candy wrappers floating in it.

We would never recommend this to anyone

Although I was disappointed to learn of the impression your recent stay left you with; I also agree that the state of the pool was less than satisfactory.

As you may not be aware, after our attempts to combat the issue via treatment were unsuccessful, we made a conscious decision to drain both swimming pools at the hotel and pressure clean the base and surrounds of the pool deck.

This decision has yielded positive results, with both pools returning to their correct state.

Irrespective, I certainly apologise for the impact this issue had on your stay. We value your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

A little down the road out of town (thats no bad thing on it's own). The pool was the best thing here, but there is a restuarant, and friendly staff. The rooms, appointments, furniture and decor were a floral trip back a few decades. After being in Alice Springs, I think we were after a little luxury - this hotel aint it, and it was quite expensive. Give it a miss if you have a better option.

Accomodation was clean and suitable. Ground floor room with access straight out onto the garden so the children were happy. Pool cooled us down. Easy walk to main street. Staff were wonderful. Restraunt had fantastic meals. I think I ate Barramundi 4 times but loved the other meals too. Great day trips to Uluru and the surrounds of Alice. Do it all.

This motel doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. I guess it's about 30 years old, and whilst it doesn't appear that much has been done to it since then, it's clean and quiet and the grounds attract lovely birds. It's in a safer part of Alice Springs meaning you can walk back safely after a meal. The continental breakfast was included in our tarif and was quite acceptable. The place is value-for-money in a part of the country which is notoriously expensive. This is not the motel to celebrate your honeymoon in, but was perfectly reasonable for the nights before and after our central Australian tour. They also let us check in early. Very friendly staff.

We were a family of four (2 adults & 2 (kids 11 &15)). We were put into the family room where there was a double and 2 single beds. We were there to do the Ayers Rock bus tour and a little touring of Alice Springs. Just 3 nights.

Could not fault anything. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room was clean. Walking distance to town. The pool was cold, but one must remember it's winter. Ate a lunch and a breakfast there so cannot comment too much. What we got was good.

Would recommend it. It's not a 5 star BUT it's worth more than the rate paid. I must agree with all the other reviewers during their August '09 stay. Worthy of serious consideration.
