“Great Atmosphere... Better Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

I dined at Pony for a birthday dinner and was blown away by the fantastic cocktails and food presented in a beautiful and very hip location.

Me and a friend shared a number of small plates - the duck and the king prawns were particular highlights.

Above all, though, was the beautiful (if not slightly bizarre) blue cheese infused creme brûlée with pears. Literally one of the best desserts I have ever had.

Would recommend Pony for the innovative and delicious flavour combinations and the bloody fantastic cocktails!

“Small servings, over priced, over crowded”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

If you want to have diners right next to you each side of you then this is your place. They cram people in. The food is ok but the quantities very disappointing. The service was good. There are far better options in The Rocks area.

“WORTH ANY CONFUSION”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

At first we were off put by an officious oriental waiter who could barely communicate in English. You might say we need to be more understanding. And my reply would be "understanding" has nothing to do with enjoying our dinner. Ultimately we got a charming and helpful young French woman who was superb. We had a wonderful dinner! Tender, meaty and flavorful oysters;tender lamb etc. When in Sydney Pony is a must!

“So Nice, We Went Twice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014 via mobile

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how we ended up at Pony our first night in Sydney. We walked past it while browsing a market in the square and thought it looked like a cool place with a good menu. (We had seen another Pony in Brisbane days before, but weren't as intrigued by the venue there.) So after drinks at Grain not too far away, we settled in at a long table outside and ate next to other like-minded diners.

We all wanted Blackmore Cheeseburgers, but learned quickly that they were available for lunch only. Disappointed, we were still happy to order the short ribs and some pretty good wine and hoped that maybe we could get back here another day for the the burgers. (We did.). Everything was pretty darn good, particularly the short ribs and the shoestring fries. The burgers the next day were also worth the stop. Highly recommended.

We would probably be regulars at Pony if we didn't live on the other side of the world. But if we are ever back in Sydney in the future, Pony will be on the short list. Casual, hip, excellent and friendly service, and very good food is always enough to get me back to any restaurant. If you live there or are visiting like we were, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. For lunch and dinner!

“Hip place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014 via mobile

A hip place to eat in The Rocks. My wife and I had dinner twice during a week stay in Sydney and The Rocks. Atmosphere is nice both inside and on the terrace, if a bit noisy inside but not too much so. Tortellini was very bland but the chicken and rib eye steaks were delicious. On the expensive side, so be prepared. Cudos to hostess Annie for being so nice.
