“First time having KBBQ... and there will be a second!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

Truly enjoyed Sydney Madang. This was my first introduction to Korean BBQ and what a great experience. Although you leave a little smelly, it was totally worth it.

All the food was fresh and well portioned. Pork and beef were tender, fish pancake was awesome and the deep fried spicy prawns are something to go back for!

Don't let the long line fool you, we were in very quickly!

“Hidden Korean Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This busy restaurant is hidden in the alley between Pitt St and World Square.
Got to be here early to get the seat, otherwise you have to queue outside the restaurant.
We ordered the Beef & Mushroom hotpot which come with 2 bowls of rice and a small pork & Kimchi pancake, and all of this was more than enough to share for 3 persons.
The food was quite good though, an authentic korean food.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

After seeing the Korean drama for a hundred of times I finally found a great Korean resturant in Sydney, the waitresses there are polite and enthusiasic, the food there are delicious and the pickles could be replenished if u have eaten up. I like the groudback music as well.

“Great food and friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Madang is almost hidden in a driveway near Pitt and Liverpool. So, when at 6 pm on a rainy and cold Saturday there's roughly 20 - 30 people queueing-up, most of them Koreans, you know it can't go wrong. All I've tried so far has been fresh and tasty and the bbq sided with the kimchi and dips are authentic slow food. The waiting staff are quick and polite, always attentive when you need anything but not intrusive, and no pressure even though your plate's empty and there's new customers outside. All in all, excellent value for a sort of food that is very different from more popular Asian cuisines.

“My first visit to a Korean BBQ restaurant and absolutely fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

Some friends of mine who regularly eat here suggested this venue prior to the movies and it did not disappoint. I have eaten at Japanese BBQ restaurants both in Sydney and Japan but this was sublime. We started with the seafood dumplings and pancake with mushrooms and then the BBQ fun began. We chose the nicely marbled sirloin steak which kept it tender and moist, and the pork which was marinated in a fire engine marinade. The kimichi was new to me of course and provided a perfect balance along with the dipping sauce. The deep fried chicken with chilli whilst delicious could have been lighter on the batter. Service excellent and friendly. On departure 7pm on Sunday there was a hungry queue of twenty.
