“Best Thai in Sydney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

I was very impressed after eating here recently, the staff were very efficient and friendly trying to seat us (a group of 9) as fast as they could on a busy Thursday evening. Is the restaurant busy and loud? Yes. Is it slightly cramped? Yes- but overall that contributes to the fun of this place. Don't expect fine dining, but do expect a lively fun atmosphere.
The food was one of the highlights of our trip. Fresh, unfussy and authentic. The entrees were mhu bing (pork skewers), fish cakes, sai ouch (house made southern sausages), fresh spring rolls, green papaya salad and prawn cakes. All excellent and true bold flavours.
We had the crisp pork stir fry with wild ginger and chilli paste, duck curry, stir fried water spinach, nahm dok, lemongrass fish and soft shell crab yellow curry for our mains and again amazing.
I have eaten widely around the world and really this is seriously very very good.

“Above average Thai food in Sydney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

If you come from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, you will not be wowed by Chat Thai. It is always crowded but the food can't be compared to the Thai food you can get back home.

Tom Yam Goong was too salty but the prawn was really fresh. Order everything else and skip tom yam soup.

“Good food but rushed.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

The food is very affordable, we ordered 4 dishes to start with then after another four, the waitress kept checking us, kind of rushing us out. Did not enjoy the atmosphere.

“Best Thai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Absolutely delicious food. Be prepared to queue for a table regardless of what night you come here - the time can vary from 15 minutes to 45 minutes but it is well worth it.

The restaurant itself is cramped and very very noisy so its not somewhere to go for an intimate date. Tables are cramped and you sit on stools. However, overall, the atmosphere is fun, loud and has a certain buzz - and you can see and tell from everyone's faces that they're having a great time.

Their stand out dishes are their spring rolls, bamboo shoot salad, fried fish with chilli sauce, fried fish with lemon grass and actually all the seafood dishes. All are bursting with flavour and transported you immediately to Thailand - it is that good!

I eat here anytime - prices are OK; not on the cheap side but then again, its value for money and you get what you pay for....delicious, fresh and just mouth watering yummy Thai food!
