Maybe the night we went (we have been to yum cha here before and it was pretty good - was too lazy to do a review though) was one right there out of the bag.
We started with market oysters (steamed with ginger and shallots). They were huge, they were tasty. The waiter placed them one by one on our plates as we disposed of each juicy, tender oceanic orgasm. Sorry, got a bit carried away there. The waiter even suggested that we should drink the left over jus from the shell. We did, it was good. Well, if that was an entree, bring on the mains.
We ordered prawns, a tofu dish, and a choi sum vegetable dish. The taste was good. The dishes were served at a good pace ... just before we finished one plate, another would appear. No obvious MSG. Delicious!
Now, the service. We asked for some chilli oil, and immediately our man was off on a mission. His return journey was interrupted by him having to serve a dish to one of the tables between the chilli oil source and our table. He put down the oil, served the other table, came directly to our table on completion, and apologised for the delay. I must say, that was pretty much straight out of the customer service manual.
Value? Hey, it was a little on the pricey side, but the food and atmosphere were good. The service was good. And considering it was late (8.30pm) on a Sunday evening, the place was reasonably full ... a good sign!
