“Definitely a great choice for fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I tried to get a reservation at a number of fish restaurants closer to the water, with no luck. However, it was a treat to find this restaurant. Small, and pretty popular among locals. In fact, we sat next to the one of the wealthiest men in Australia who said this was the by far the best fish restaurant in the city. And, presumably, he knows. Don't go for the ambience, even though it's pleasant. But if you like fish, this is a great find.

“Excellent Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We dinned outside would have preferred the inside but without a reservation we took what was available. The fish was cooked perfectly we also ordered the "bugs" an Australian exclusive I believe they are a cross between lobster and shrimp not the most attractive dish but really delicious. Overall the cost is on the high side but based on the quality was not out of line.

“The best place to eat fish in Sydney if not anywhere I've been to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

We have been here several times and each time we swear that we must come back sooner rather than later. I had the ocean trout in filo pastry. It was cooked to perfection pink and light. The fish was surrounded with mushrooms and than the light crust of the pastry. A fabulous eating experience. My friends had the fish curry and they raved. My wife had the John Dory with crispy skin equally good. We finished the meal with a shared tart, that we saw come out of the oven. What a meal. It helps that the owner is always around watching that everything is spot on. Our waitress had eyes and ears that picked up on our smallest wish. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

“Small local restuarant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Great spot that seemed to cater to mostly locals. Definitely bring your own wine whenever you can in australia because dinner can be quite expensive and it is expected if a place is BYOB with a corkage fee. Fish was really fresh but service was very weird and haphazard. They seems to cater to their locals so since we were not our service was not great. But give it a try anyway.

“Excellent food & charming service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Really delicious fish dishes, although possibly a bit too complicated? Loved the buzzy atmosphere, the charming staff, and the meal was great. We sat on stools at the window; much cooler than sitting at one of the tables near the kitchen. This place serves really good food, totally without pretension. I'll definitely return.
