“Good Food But Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Zaaffran has its own style of Indian food and whilst it is good for a few visit, the menu is very predicable. However, it is generally overrated and expensive.

As you have many Indians patronising the restaurant, it must speak volumes in terms of its quality and food authenticity.

I particularly like their home made ice cream - must try is the rose water flavour. It is simply addictive.

For main course, the highly recommended dishes are lobster curry and the tandoori mixed platter and not to forget the signature saffron rice.

Overall, a great restuarant for occassional visits.

“Fantastic and original Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

I found this place by accident on Tripadvisor and am delighted that I did. The location is magical, overlooking the water and the food superb. As others have said don't be put off by the entrance being in the mall, many restaurants there are the same but once you get in the front door and see the view you wont care. We opted for the chefs special vegetarian selection - a form of taster menu. The amount of food was great and the quality. Everything was delicious and it gave us a chance to get away from the usual selection we normally pick. Their "mocktails" were also delicious. Not the cheapest but nowhere in Sydney is. I would definitely go back.

“Terribly overpriced, poor service, average food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Don't bother with this one. There are many other restaurants at the same location if you want to dine with a view of the city and darling harbour.

“Stunning food. Forgot to look out at the view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

My second visit to this restaurant. It is simply the best Indian food I have had in years.
The beetroot patties were mind blowing! Even the old favourite, sheekh kebab was delicious. Service was excellent with plenty of waiters. Can't wait to go back.

“Best Indian Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Zaffran was recommended to us by a friend as the best Indian food in the world-big call. We did not have a booking and it was Saturday Night in Sydney and although we could not get a table outside on the balcony we were lucky enough to get a table inside. The Grand Feast was recommended as a tasting samples of 3 Entrees, 5 Mains and dessert. We opted for this and were not disappointed. The food was extremely tasting and we requested a mild flavour which was just right. There was plenty of food and we enjoyed all the different flavours. The home made ice cream was e excellent, especially the Rose Water flavour. The atmosphere was great and the service was also great. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Darling Harbour
