“Excellent Service but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I love High Tea. One of my all time favourite things to do. I have been here a few times and unfortunately remember the experience being better than that of the weekend just gone.

I can't fault the waitstaff or manager. They were great. The sparkling was lovely, Tea is tea and it too was enjoyable... however the food was a significant let down. The scones and the spinach and cheese savoury piece was lovely but everything else was very poor.

The sweets were either bland or sickly sweet and the sandwiches (my fave part of high tea) were short on supply. There should be two of each sandwich similar to how the sweets are arranged. There was one of each bland sandwich and a waitress came by with two more tuna sandwiches (basic tuna, from the can, nothing noticeable added). High tea is all about the sandwiches and if you feel the same, I recommend a five star hotel or the Victoria Room in Darlinghurst.

The room and the china are of course beautiful and elegant. I also was in excellent company, sadly the food was a massive disappointment. Slightly interesting sandwiches with enough for two would have made a world of difference. Also, if a dessert is described as having a cherry and chocolate flavour it would help if both the chocolate and cherry flavour was present.

Such a shame, as I am certain I have enjoyed the food and service before... but bland summed up the whole experience unfortunately.

“Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

We had high tea and it was wonderful. The ambience was fantastic and the service was very professional. The tea stand was interesting but the servings, particularly of sandwiches, were small. Having said this, we were offered more sandwiches after we'd finished the rest of the food. The tea choices were good and the piccolo of champagne a nice choice. I booked some days in advance they kindly accommodated my food allergies. A lovely outing!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Had heard good things about this venue, and was looking for somewhere for High Tea that was easily accessible from various parts of Sydney, so something at Town hall station was perfect. First impressions were good, but unfortunatley was downhill from there. Limited selection of teas, small serves of food (sandwiches a bit chewy at the edges) and despite the attractive location, not much ambience and strange selection of background music (which had the volume raised when I think they thought it was time to send us on our way). Staff appeared to be more interested in keeping their heads down than attending to customers, and I didn't like that a request for more tea was responded with a top up of hot water into the existing pot resulting in a tepid weak solution of clear fluid. Wasn't the most expensive high tea I had, but I would prefer to pay more for better quality. I wouldn't initiate a return visit here, especially when there are so many more superior High Tea venues in Sydney.

We love coming here for a special girls day out, the service is always good, food is so yummy and the surroundings are just lovely. Can't fault this place, really enjoy their high tea and coffee.

“Girls day out”

This is always our favourite place for high tea. They have champagne/tea and other options. They also have GF options. Very traditional and a lovely experience. Book ahead.
