“If you need to know you will have a great meal, you can always trust this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

This has now been a favourite of ours for a couple of years. Jimmy is just wonderful and always makes you feel special, & welcome, (so do the rest of the staff). The food is always great, and, if you want to try something different, let them choose the menu for you. We've done this several times, so that we get to try new things, and it has never been a bad decision.
The restaurant is now a days located in an old school house, so it can be a bit noisy, but that would be the only criticism that I could possibly come up with. This is a must go to restaurant. A little off the main path, but not too far, and, if you are like us, you make up for eating too much by walking home afterwards.

“Very good meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

We have been to this restaurant several times and are never disappointed. The dishes are traditional Taiwan flavours presented for Australian palates. We like to go with a small group of friends - four or six - and leave the selection (banquet style) to the host/owner. We are never disappointed, and a special mention for the dumplings, and chilli sauce is available extra hot (which we like). Bookings are a must as we have tried to get in on spec a few times. Well worth trying.

“A gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

Discovered this via Google in an attempt to get away from the rapacious pricing and bland offerings in the adjacent Star. Can only endorse all the positive comments of others.

“Best restaurant in Sydney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

I have been going to Blue Eye Dragon for years and have never been disappointed. It's the most amazing food, wonderful service and great atmosphere. I have had dinners for two and functions for 30 and they never skip a beat with the quality of the food or the service.

My favourite entrees are:
Crispy Chicken with Chinese 5 Spice
Salt & Pepper soft shell crab (so crispy and great shallots, chilli and garlic with it)
Prawn dumplings (you can buy these frozen too and make them at home, 8 mins in boiling water does the trick!)
Scallops with house fish sauce (gorgeous light flavour)

My favourite mains are:
Jade's Bloody Plum Prawns (a bit like sweet and sour but much more flavoursome)
Eye fillet with black pepper sauce (yes, eye fillet at Taiwanese restaurant, a rare find!)
Ginger & Shallot fish

I'd highly recommend the banquet which is 6 entrees and 4 mains for between $50 and $60 pp.

No BYO, but the wine list is very reasonable, starting at $35ish a bottle.

Closed on Sundays and Mondays so make sure you book for one of the other 5 nights!

Enjoy!!

“Great Taiwanese food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

Went with a group of friends, left the section of food to Muriel (the owner) and meal was excellent. Great variety and good combination of flavours (if perhaps a little heavy on the protein and fried side - but there may be more options on the menu as well). Interesting to get away from the stock standard Chinese fare and have a specific regional cuisine. Venue is interesting - an old church hall, creates a good atmosphere. Recommended.
