“Location, view and staff - perfect! Food was... good, but seriously overpriced!”
Anyone who knows me, knows I love my tucka and that I love dinning a new restaurants and experiencing new foods. When we decided to head to Sydney for a work confrence, we chose ARIA to dine at based on the great reviews and feedback that this restaurants received. The end result we experienced was nice, but hardly worth the financial outlay, I believe.
Upon arrival, our table was not ready and our party of four was led to the bar. The staff were amazing! Seriously, if they are not already getting paid the earth, they deserve it! I have never received such welcoming and professional service.
Soon we were shown to our table and the staff left us alone to catch up with our friends before coming back. We didn't feel rushed at all, arriving at 9:30 and leaving at midnight.
Hubby was the only one to order an entree but sadly they seemed to have forgotten it and everyone's mains arrived first. We were abit shocked but being the easy-going foke we are, we shrugged it off and dug in.
We all had different mains. I had the beef fillet and it was cooked perfect! The sauce was rather salty, but very nice. The others had the veal, lamb and chicken. The only negative thing said was regarding the chicken, saying the addition of the sausage was not needed as it wasn't that enjoyable. Other than that though, everyone liked their meals.
Only the ladies went for dessert, having the desserts called BERRIES and (Ofcourse) CHOCOLATE. I had the chocolate and it was very nice. A nice mix of flavors and just the perfect amont on the plate.
I must also add, I love the chefs offers - the little offerings that are just placed infrount of us during the night. The crab mousse thing was kinda weird and not to our tastes, but the nuts, olives and dessert tasters were bloody good! It was a surprising offering but one we really enjoyed.
I will say that we had to chase the waiters down for drinks, a shame as everything else they did was perfect. Maybe they are not used to how much we Territorians drink? ;)
I will sign off saying I really enjoyed the resturant but when the $402 bill arrived I raised an eyebrow. Four mains, two desserts, two cocktails and afew beers turned out to be an expensive night. ARIA has an amazing view of the harbor and while their staff are the best I've ever been served by, the food didn't wow me as much as it should have for the price.
Will I recommend this resturant? Yeah, it's an experience, but come with loose purse strings.
Will I return? Hmmm, I doubt it. I think we'll try somewhere else next time. For that price I expect an amazing explosion in my mouth and while the food was good, it wasn't that, sadly.
