“Inconsistent reviews tell a story”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We had not been here for several years, and noticed the place had been redecorated - even the entrance has moved from the driveway to the roadside.
We had a lovely four course lunch on a weekday. As others have related, the staff were pleasant and the very good food well timed out.
The view and activity on the harbour make this a great venue, but obviously the staff need to take note of the inconsistent feedback and lift their game. There are plenty of competitors delivering good service to go to if they don't.

“Disappointing experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Although I have known this restaurant for many years I had never eaten at this restaurant until we were staying next door last month. I really looked forward to the experience- we were on holidays and the reputation I knew was of a good restaurant in an unbeatable location. We were very disappointed- prices were high, food ordinary by contemporary Australian standards, and service was abysmal. Now that we've been there, we won't bother again. There are much better restaurants up the road, at a fraction of the cost. Enjoy the views for free from a nearby park bench or the McMahon's Point Wharf!

“Awful service and average food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

We live nearby and have been wanting to go to Sails for quite some time but hadn't gotten around to it, so when I saw a voucher deal I jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately the experience fell considerably below our expectations. The staff were extremely unfriendly, arrogant, and unenthusiastic. One of our mains (rump steak) was burnt to the point that it was bitter and charcoal (not just a little bit charred) and far from the 'medium rare' we'd ordered. To make matters worse the entire dish was excessively salty- the meat and cauliflower purée where covered in salt granules - so much so that my salt-loving partner couldn't even eat it. When the waiter came to clear our barely touched plates we mentioned both these things to him and he didn't respond.

I appreciate that we were there on a coupon deal but it was the restaurants decision to offer such a deal and there is no reason why they should treat these guests any differently to their regular ones. We are both young professionals who live nearby and enjoy fine dining - we most certainly would have returned if the experience had been a positive one. I just don't know how this place is ranked as a hatted restaurant - it's so embarrassingly below any others I have been to!

“Delicious food. Great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We had lunch here on a Saturday and used a coupon offer for a 4 course lunch. It wasn't too crowded and we had a lovely table by the window.
Reading other reviews I am happy to say we found the staff rather pleasant to deal with: polite and also attentive.
Each course was fast to come out but paced enough so we didn't feel we were rushed.
Based on the visit, I would return again.

“Kind OF OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Great location, but when you enter the manager doesnt make you feel welcome, he continues writing his reservations list, its like your an after thought and that is how the whole night whent. Our waiter only came to our table when it suited them not when we needed them! Waiters who run a section only to suit how they want do things with out taking into account the guests needs need to think about caring intuative service! It was very impersonel !! The food Id say was a 14/20 so pretty good but some plates where messy with little smudges on the edges and it took 40 mins for maincourse, my portion of lamb was less than 150gm Desserts where specail
