we stayed here for 2 weeks and hated it. on the first night there a huge cockroach ran from under the fridge. from then on we sprayed the room with cockroach kiiler every time we left the room.
the lighting is dreadful; far too bright and all lights controlled by one switch.
the furniture is old and uncomfortable. the settee faces the sink, fridge and cooking area. the TV is small. the bathroom is basic. the price was high for what was provided.
we booked this room on the basis of its location and that was the only good point.
never again.

Ultimate Apartments looks a bit like Melrose Place... there's two storeys of rooms enclosing a car parking spaces and a swimming pool in the middle. (see photo) I stayed here for the month of August 2008.(bit too cold for a swim in the pool) as I was put up here by my employer when I first moved to Sydney. Because I was staying so long, there was a discount but if I had to pay myself I would have found somewhere cheaper. The room I stayed in was clean, tidy and a few pretty touches, like the pictures on the wall were nice. The shower was a good pressure, the room was clean and serviced about once a week, which was fine. The location is fantasic if you are there for the beach - Bondi Beach is about 5-10 minute walk down a street lined with funky cafes and clothes shop. Also, the owners were very helpful when I moved on, holding my post and even giving me a 'landlord reference' when I got my own apartment for 6 months.

I had already booked these apartments before the 2 poor reviews were posted so was a little aprehensive about what it would be like but it was fine.
There is nothing fancy about the rooms but I went out of season and paid a very reasonable rate and you get what you pay for.
As earlier reviews have said this is basic clean accommodation in a very good location. It was very good value for money.
In a resort like this all you are doing is sleeping and showering in the room and it was absolutely fine for that.
I would happily stay there again.

Tremendous disappointment. Do not stay here!

These are not in fact 'apartments'; this is an old, grungy, converted motel. Feels like this should be a $59/night room. The rooms are not very nice - it's like staying at someone's house with crappy furniture. Our room had an air conditioner that was so loud, it was impossible to sleep without ear plugs. You also couldn't change the settings on the A/C because the buttons were broken, so you were stuck in leaving it 'on' maximum all the time, which meant freezing at night. Bathroom is of poor quality and feels dirty. Kitchenette is a nice bonus, but our fridge had a foul odour to it that we couldn't get rid of. Don't forget to bring your own SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER - it's not provided! And pack a bar of soap, you'll only be given a tiny bar good for washing your hands.

There is no daily cleaning service, or towel/sheet change. They only do this once per week. They wouldn't even exchange our towels at reception after a few days because they "aren't a hotel".

The location is alright - it's about a 10 minute walk to Bondi Beach. There is a bus stop right out front, which takes you to Bondi Junction (mall + subway station), so that's the only convenient part.

Also, laundry facilities downstairs.

There is reliable wireless Internet access on the property ($50/week) if you brought your laptop.

The hotel pool is right in the middle of the parking lot, with cars on either side.

Their web site leads you to believe this is a NEW property (2005) - perhaps its under NEW ownership - there's nothing new about this place. The photos on their web site musty have been retouched in Photoshop to make them look half decent. The furniture seems like it was bought from students moving out of their temporary housing at the end of the school year.

I chose this hotel because it's the only one I could find online near Bondi (except the Swiss Grand (?) which was really expensive). I would definately not stay here again - I would rather stay downtown (like at the Meriton Kent St. - same price, world of difference) and have to take transit to go to the beach.
