There are several very old pubs in The Rocks, and going to one for a drink and maybe something to eat seems like a proper thing to do when visiting this historic area. I decided on going to The Lord Nelson Brewery, based on the reviews here. I went there specifically to eat, but given the nature of the place, to have a drink as well. I sat on a stool at the bar, which is always a great place for a solo traveler, and there ordered off the bar menu. Several things looked interesting, but I wanted to try a meat pie and went with that.
The simple presentation for the moderately hearty meal was appetizing, with the pool of gravy surrounding the bed of mashed potatoes and the pie and the topping of mushy peas sitting upon it. One bite, and I leaned back and savored the tastiness and said to myself, "Oh yes, that's really good." (You can also imagine me saying some yum yums and nom nom.) So mark that I really like it. For a drink with dinner I had apple cider, which was also pretty good. After dinner I had the Three Sheets pale ale. I'm not much of a beer or ale drinker, but it seemed reasonably good.
