We arrived at The Chelsea around 9pm and was a bit put off by how dark and quiet it was outside and no one to greet us as it was after office hours. Infact, a few days later we had to open the door to a new guest who arrived after office hours as well. But we were definitely impressed when we walk in. The Chelsea is definitely gorgeous and the rooms perfect. And thank goodness they had wireless internet.
Have to agree about the toilets, no shower doors so had to control the volume of the water as not to flood the toilet. Breakfast was pretty basic as well..
Apart from that, it is in walking distance to some top notch cafes on Liverpool Street and shops on Oxford Street but you would still have to take some kind of public transport-taxi, bus or monorails to get to areas like The Rocks & Circulay Quay (all easily available from The Chelsea).
We got to meet the owners as we were checking out over the weekend. A nice friendly couple, wished we had met them earlier as it would have been nice to have some ppl to chat with when we were there. The staff were polite and helpful but kept mostly to themselves.
