In a neighbourhood packed with cafes, this area of Surry Hills is full of choices. The Reservoir is on a great corner position and features wood and exposed brick inside with a warm and comfortable vibe. I was there for breakfast and there were tables of people obviously having breakfast meetings away from the design studio or creative business. The waitress greeted me straight up, took my coffee order then promptly forgot I was there. Two other tables arrived after I did and got their coffee orders first, which was no big deal, but she just wouldn't come over and take my breakfast order. Finally, after ordering, my breakfast came in a flash but still no coffee! The table next to mine had both their drink orders messed up, and another guy got the someone else's drink. Having said that, the service could use some tweaking but the food was really good. I had the feta/avocado/tomato on sourdough that every café in Sydney is serving right now with a side of zucchini croquette (which was delicious). The menu wasn't overly long but had plenty of interesting choices, including gluten free and a couple vegetarian options. If they can get their service together, this will be a great regular hang out.
