Owner description: Located by the Royal Botanic Gardens, the bench known as Mrs. Macquarie's Chair was carved out of sandstone in the early 1800s for Govenor Lachlan Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth. It became her favorite spot to look upon the harbour and serves that same purpose today for visitors who take a moment to rest there.

Great place to take a picnic to and just sit on the grass and chill out whilst looking out to the harbour. Beautiful!

Great spot which is nice for a walk or a picnic. Overlooking the Sydney harbour, it is very beautiful, perhaps picturesque.

“A Romantic's Crusade”

For anyone who has read an historic novel blooming with the passions of the heart, then to visit Mrs Macquarie's chair is a must. A beautiful setting on a promontory overlooking Sydney's Harbour. Stroll through the Botanic Gardens and out along the parabolic path to Mrs M's Chair. Take a picnic in the shade and think of the power of love. Top 10 things to do in Sydney.
