Owner description: The Cenotaph, located between Pitt and George Streets, is the ceremonial focus for remembering the war dead. It sits in a wide, simple space, designed not to detract from the symbolism.

“Tasteful and honourable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

One of several war memorials in Sydney (including the large memorial in Hyde Park) the Centotaph is a tastefully designed reminder that Australia's peace and prosperity comes with a heavy price. This should be viewed with more than a passing glance as you visit the long Martin Place pedestrian mall. People around you simply walk past it; most locals have taken the time to see it several times already. The area around this memorial is busy whenever a major battle or day of remembrance is commemorated. Think of the sacrifices made, and look at the wonderful city that surrounds this memorial. Thanks to those whose duties and actions made it possible.

“Nice place to see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014 via mobile

but not much to do most of the time. If you know when to come, there are awesome performances. My favorite is Christmas time - toll tree and decorations, million children and tourists. Can not ask for better.

“Good place to honour fallen heroes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

The Cenotaph in Sydney is a moving reminder of those who fell in war in the service of their country. The sculptures are excellent and it is good that the Cenotaph takes a central place in the city. As you walk past it you are always reminded of the soldiers, sailors and airmen who died that we might be able to live peaceably. It is sad, although beautiful, so see flowers placed there from time to time by people who, obviously, are missing a loved one. On Anzac Day, a service of remembrance is always held at the Cenotaph and it is wonderful that the citizens (and also visitor to the city) are able to attend and honour the men and women and also meditate on their huge sacrifice for others.

“A place of reflection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

In the middle of the city.
Is a place called martin place, and in Martin Place is the Cenotaph, a memorial to those who dies defending not just our county, but other places that had the same ideas and thoughts as us.
Walk past and remember those who have dies for us to enjoy our lives.
