“Simply fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

We stayed here for two nights whilst my husband was on business in Sydney. We were accompanied by our 14 month old son. We were allocated a 2 bedroom apartment as we needed a bath for our son. We occupied the master bedroom and used the ensuite next to it which had a bath. The other bedroom and the other bathroom were locked. Undercover parking was available and easily accessed. We did not pay for the stay so I cannot comment on value for money.

The hotel is located right in the middle of the CBD, only a block or so from the Pitt Street Mall. It is surrounded by shops, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, bottle shops, in short, everything you could ever possibly need.

The room was well furnished and had the best stocked kitchen of any hotel I have ever stayed in. There were floor to ceiling windows which offered spectacular views of the city. My son could not stop looking out of them. There was plenty of room for all of us and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Check-in was painless enough although the $300 deposit hold on the credit card was a bit unusual. The lifts? - ok so all tall buildings are going involve waiting for lifts but these seemed extra painful and slower then most. Most trips in & out involved 10+ min just waiting around for a lift - Early morning and mid arvo were worse. Studio room was smaller than expected and poorly laid out - power points were in some strange places. Bathroom was small but functional, as was the kichenette, and cupboard laundry was good. Queen bed was actually two singles pushed together - usually ok but these had the habit of drifting apart. Pitt st location convenient and room was quiet once the window was closed. Air con had annoying feature of switching off after 4 hours which generally meant waking mid-morning to a stuffy room. A bit of a mixed bag overall and can't say I'd stay again. Overall - ok.

I stayed at the Meriton (Pitt Street Sydney) in March 2012 for business/leisure.
I stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment for 2-nights which was large and very comfortable and then moved into a smaller studio apartment for 2 nights which was also very comfortable (and not too small either). The location of the apartments was fantastic - very close to everything.
The service was very good also.

Room Tip: A room on a higher floor is good both for the view and to reduce the traffic noise.

Spacious! Great for families at the same cost a single hotel room! Same block as supermarket and train station. At the heart of downtown so monorail, bus and hop on hop off tour stops very near plus a lot of great shops!

First impressions were of the lifts taking some time to arrive and once inside became very stuffy, very quickly. Allocated an apartment on 39th floor ( given 2 bedroomed although paid for one bedroomed) so it was spacious and convenient to have use of two bathrooms. Plenty of toiletries and towels. Unfortunately the standard of the deep cleaning ie Inbetween guests needs review as on closer inspection the oven hadn't seen a proper clean for some time and inside wardrobes needed cleaning. Apartments are showing signs of wear and tear and this is a shame. The biggest problem for us however was the street noise as we could hear cars until 3/4am ( on the 39th floor!) particularly weekend nights. If staying again in Sydney I wouldn't stay in CBD area again, better option is to stay elsewhere and use trains to get to harbour and shopping districts. Also a warning to those paying the reception for the shuttle bus to airport. We paid 14 dollars per person for one way and given voucher. Unfortunately unbeknown to us there are several shuttle buses providing the service. We travelled with 6 other guests to the airport and it wasn't until we arrived that the driver created a bit of a fuss because we had unintentionally travelled on the wrong shuttle! He obviously wasnt the shuttle service the reception staff had booked on our behalf but we hadn't realised this. This guy wanted another ten dollars each but we refused and told him to refer to the meriton apartments but it put a dampner on our experience of Sydney.

This property was a block from Hyde Park, a half-block from the subway (two stops to Circular Quay), a half-block from grocery store and surrounded by coffee houses and restaurants. Area looks a little scruffy in places, but the large crowds of workers and tourists made it more than safe and acceptable. And there's really high-end shopping within a block, too, if you must spend all the money you save staying here. We had suite with two balconies (one covered), kitchen and washer/dryer on 42nd floor. Great views. Really good help from desk staff with questions etc. Beyond all the above benefits, the place was reasonably priced for downtown Sydney with easy access to all the good stuff! Only issue we had was that the cab we ordered through front desk did not appear on time and we had to flag one down ourselves in order not to miss our flight. Minor issue during a great stay. We'd go back in a minute if we return to Sydney.

Room Tip: The higher the better for views and distance from the street and monorail.

We booked this hotel through Booking.com and managed to get a good deal. We stayed in a studio apartment which was great just for the two of us. Very compact room but had everything we need. Small well equipped kitchen, tiny bathroom but very functional, good laundry facitlities, very, very comfortable bed with TV with a good selection of channels. The room was clean but smelt of smoke eventhough it was supposedly non smoking. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great location and very close to Museum Station. Only negative comment I would have was that the Front Office was very understaffed. We had to wait a long time to check in and check out.
