“French cuisine in Sydney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Ananas is a nice French cuisine restaurant in The Rocks aera of Sydney. We had dinner there and the quality of the food is very good. The service was great as well and the interior of the restaurant is nice (and a little tacky with all the pineapples).

“I was surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

My wife's workmates decided on a get together and chose Ananas. I had been to other venues nearby and feared the worse.

I was wrong. It had buzz. It was slick and sophisticated. The meals were excellent. The wine menu good. The staff were helpful, attentive but not pushy

“True French style service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Very disappointing. The service was terrible and definitely not what you expect from a restaurant claiming to be of the calibre Ananas does. The food was good but nothing special. The wine was also good but expensive - although to be fair in line with expectations for this type of restaurant. The main issue is that the service does not match the prices.

“Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Went there with business colleagues and had an enjoyable evening.
The bar and restaurant have been well decorated in the style of an upmarket French bistro.
The staff were a mix of French and locals and were generally good. However, you want to leave time to enjoy the atmosphere - it took 2 hours from being seated until the time we received our main course. We didn't mind as we were enjoying the atmosphere, but many would find this annoying.
Food was good, with a mix of French dishes with local flavour - a good change from the standard fare of many western restaurants in Sydney serving their variations of modern Australian cuisine.
Deserts were great.

“A Fun Outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

In the Rocks, and worth going. Run by the French, it's an enjoyable brasserie and scene.
Bar area was loaded on a Sat nite with singles but well behaved.
Behind is the brasserie, lots of visitors but not the least bit touristy.
Dinner was fairly priced and enjoyable in a city where dining out makes Paris prices look fair!
The wait staff are french mainly but not exclusively and are on temp work visas. They were great!
We liked the location a lot, a few blocks from the 4 Seasons.
