“Magnifique!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Delicious, authentic French food! Terrific value for money with massive servings packed full of flavour. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable - all were French natives which is a wonderful touch. This is fine dining without the snobbery. Highly recommend giving it a go! Try the beef with truffle mash.

“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

We found this restaurant on the net by chance - we were looking for something French, a bit different. On entry, I was immediately transported to a bistro in France - very cosy but with tables not too close so you can talk to your companion. We had read one of the specialities of the house was the escargots and they were delicious. As it was a birthday celebration, we opted to follow with the Chateaubriand and weren't disappointed. We had 2 sweets, the creme brulee and a mango bavarois - both equally delicious. A really top night.

“Down Under - Sydney restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Amazing food and service on a Wedensday Night after a long travel from Bangkok.
We will come back later on this week for a new Exilent dinner in this very French restaurant. Its in the gay area in Oxford street in Sydney. Safe and Friendly.

“Sadly disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014 via mobile

I had high expectations of this restaurant so it was disappointing that my dining experience was so bland.
Booked for upstairs mentioned it was for a birthday, booking confirmed with requests. Arrived at restaurant to be told I was sitting downstairs, no apology offered.
Another couple arrived about 10minutes later and were seated beside my table. Put our entree order in before them yet they get their entree before us. With the main meal they get served before my table, but wait a minute...that's my table's order. Oops! But no apology from staff.
Food was cooked well, but nothing special in use of flavours or ingredients. More like an average meal I would cook myself. Good selection of wines.
Decor was tastefully done and had a French ambience reinforced by the French waiters.
Often when you notify a restaurant that your booking for a birthday they provide something a little extra to make the evening memorable. This was the first time I have experienced a restaurant that couldn't be bothered going the distance with its service. A simple "Welcome, we wish you a wonderful evening with us to celebrate your birthday" is not a difficult thing to do and makes the dining experience special.
Claire's Kitchen is not a bad restaurant, it has some fine qualities, but for me it was pretty much an ordinary experience, over-rated and not yet in the league of Sydney's best restaurants.
