No complaints, clean room and friendly staff. Close to Capital Theatre where we attended The Lion King and Central Station (we trained up to Sydney from Canberra, Our main reason for choosing this hotel was location and good value for money.

Room Tip: don't stay in smaller room if you have lots of luggage.

Central Station Hotel is located near Sydney Central Station. You can walk to the property within about 5 minutes. The rooms were recently refurbished and are clean, comfortable, and offer excellent value for money save that they are rather small! I would find it difficult to share a room with another person. The issue with this property is the service and attitude of (some) staff. Upon arrival the receptionist attempted to charge me a 2% fee for using my VISA card! None of this mentioned in the small print of the booking and, quite frankly, outrageous considering most hotels require a payment card as a condition of checkin! When I challenged this, as well as the awful dungeon type too I was initially allocated to, the checkin agent decided it was professional to swear at me! Now just imagine had a customer done this to the member of staff concerned! Another matters worth mentioning is that this is NOT a full service hotel. The laundry service takes over 24 hours and I had to chase up delivery of my laundry items despite making it clear that they were urgent.

Overall I would recommend this property merely based in the standard of the rooms and cleanliness, as well as location. These factors offset the rather abrupt staff!

Room Tip: Ask to avoid being allocated a room, which does not have access to natural light!

The rooms were small, but adequately equipped, clean and comfortable. The Central Station is situated on the outskirts of the CBD and travel was not an issue. The price was right, staff helpful and I will stay there again when next in Sydney.

I recently stayed for five days and found it to be an enjoyable experience. The room was clean, if a little small. The staff were good and friendly. Location was excellent, close to transport, restaurants etc. I would happily recommend this establishment.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room on the outside.

We stayed two nights and chose the hotel for its location and price. We weren't sure what to expect in terms of standard but thought it might be ok as it said it had just been refurbished. What we experienced was a stylish, professionally staffed hotel that was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was easy to find and the location was excellent for the Central station area and other public transport options. We walked to Circular Quay once but caught the free bus from George St (2 min walk) other times. The reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Our suitcase lock had broken and when we mentioned it to reception they sent their handyman with his tools to open it for us! Our room overlooked Wentworth Street and was very quiet with the double-glazed window closed. The room was big enough for two averaged-sized people to move around comfortably and had a fridge, tv, aircon, wardrobe, desk, stool, kettle, hairdryer, etc, etc and a really comfortable bed. For a city visit where we were out and about rather than spending most of our time in the hotel it was perfect for us and probably more than we needed - but we've stayed in some pretty basic places around the world in the past so understand that people with different expectations may think the lack of a hand-held shower is an outrageous hardship ;-) There are so many food options in Sydney and you don't have to go far from the hotel to find lots of them. Campbell Street just across the road has some amazing Thai food, China town is less than 5 minutes away and Harry's Cafe de Wheels does a great pie. Nearby Elizabeth and George Streets and the sidestreets between have virtually any kind of food you can think of at a range of prices. There are supermarkets not too far away if you want to diy. We will definitely stay here again.

I recently had my Engagement Party in Surry Hills and needed somewhere close by to stay for my fiance and I, plus friends and family that were travelling up for the night. We booked this hotel (5 rooms) with a little trepidation due to how much cheaper it was than others nearby however we were all pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern the hotel is and how friendly and helpful the staff are. Be prepared for tiny rooms - they dont lie when they say 'shoebox' but given we were not in the room for long at all it was fine. Fantastic location close to Central Station and walking distance to restaurants and bars in Surry Hills. Parking stations nearby. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere modern, cheap and clean.

We stayed for 2 nights. We checked in a little too early and was surprised that the room was ready. Check in process was fast and smooth. Front Office staff were exceptional and paid attention to every detail requested.

The room set up looks clean and neat on our first impression, but was smaller than we expected. However, on our first night, we noticed that the bed & bath linens were brand new and could feel that the linens have not been pre-washed prior to setting it up on the bed & bathroom. And so we paid little attention to it as we were tired and ready to crash to bed. Unfortunately we couldnt sleep that night as we started to feel itchy and uncomfortable. We started puffing the bed sheets using the pillows just to remove whatever small, invisible to the naked eye debris left on the linens, but to no avail. It was nearly 1am and we didnt want to bother the Front Office to request for a linen change. We instead spread out the blanket on top of the sheets to prevent the itchiness. We slept through the night with the blanket set up.

The following morning, we have raised our concern to the Front Office and requested for a linen change. The complaint was taken positively by the Front office personnel on duty. Upon our return that day, as we entered the room, we noticed that our complaint was acted upon but the carpet has not been vaccummed . Anyhow, the entire room was cleaned and amenities were replenished.

A piece of advise being a hotelier as well. Considering that the hotel is newly refurbrished , newly ordered linens ( especially bed & bath) should be pre-washed prior to setting up to remove any dusts & dirt accumulated from the manufacturing process to the final packaging process.
