“Convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

This is an older hotel that has had a recent remodel. We booked a deluxe queen for 2 nights and were very satisfied with the size of it. The room was quiet although we could hear the early morning trucks roaring by but to be expected in the city. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. The hotel is very close to Central Station and within walking distance of the CBD. We are walkers so did not use public transit just simply walked down Pitt or George...about a 30 minute brisk walk to Circular Quay. The free downtown shuttle bus runs from George. With a fridge and kettle we were able to eat breakfast in our room with goods bought from Woolies. We had the hotel book the airport shuttle for us at $14 per person and were picked up at the door....cheaper than taking the train to the international terminal.

Room Tip: We had a look at a shoebox room and it is a "shoebox" size...maybe a bit crowded for more...

I booked a shoe box room on a Friday night and I have to say that for the price it was great. The room was clean and neat. Compact but it had everything you could need in an easy to access location within easy reach of Sydney attractions.
My partner and I decided to stay another night on which he booked a superior king room and this was a far cry from the positive experience we had with the shoe box room. The so called Superior King room was even smaller than the shoe box. The air conditioning was either arctic or off! The room was SO small that you really couldn't fit two people and one bag each in there and the bed was NOT a king size bed or even close. When this was brought to the attention of staff, we were advised that the difference in price was to do with the bedding configuration and not the room size but they failed to understand that the bed was not a king size bed in fact room number 320 would never fit a king size bed in it!
Because it's summer the rooms at the top of the hotel are super warm which made it very uncomfortable sleeping with the air conditioning off but there is no way you could sleep with the window open as the street is too noisy.
One last small detail. The second room had no toiletries or soap which was annoying but a minor detail really.
I would book a shoe box room again but the superior king is not worth the extra $120 dollars per night.

Room Tip: Stick with the shoe box rooms for value for size :)

We enjoyed our stay here in January on our way back from a great NZ trip. Central Station is a great location which has central station (Less than 400 mtrs)... many restaurants and City Tour Bus station about 300 meters. Very close to the airport and the Harbour Bridge and the Opera house....

I stayed here with my family for 3 nights. The hotel was clean, comfy and newly renovated. The beds are very comfortable! Our rooms were cleaned and made up every day. The location is very central and it is easy to get anywhere from here. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My partner and I stayed in an upgraded balcony room and were very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and reasonably spacious with modern touches this was way over our expectations for the price.Staff were very helpful and the location is pretty central. would recommend this hotel

My husband and I visited our daughter in Sydney and thought the Deluxe King room was lovely, freshly renovated with everything you need for a short stay, and extremely clean.
The location was great as it was so central, easy access to buses and the trains. We went to an event at Olympic Park and was so handy to be able to jump on the train and not worry about getting a taxi at any point.
We would book this room on our next visit.

Had to ask for hairdryer and ironing board as the room didn't have either. Stayed three nights, no extra soap, shampoo or conditioner were provided after the initial night. Beds weren't made, just the covers pulled up and clean towels put on them, facecloths weren't changed and disappeared completely after the second night.
The bathroom wasn't cleaned during our stay, nor the carpets vacuumed, bedside table legs were very dusty. Wires hanging from ceiling above the closet.
Very small for what was advertised as a Deluxe King. The photo shows plenty of room and nice sized beds, quite misleading. Rooms aren't soundproofed very well as there's a gap under the door so anyone returning late/early (5am in one case) can be heard, as well as doors slamming.
Reception staff were pleasant and the free wifi was good, as was the aircon.
Not a terrible hotel but not a good one either, had more of a travelodge feel.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room.
