Good value, very clean, plenty of hot water, bed comfortable. My room was noisy at night , but overall good value for the money for a person on their own wanting en suite facilities. Room 12 is a twin room and so nice space for a single person but looks out on a wall and is directly above the cafe next door's air conditioning machine. Bathroom very good..

Room Tip: Room 12 is a twin room and so nice space for a single person but looks out on a wall and is directly...

My rating is on the edge of average-poor; I'm generously calling it average. First the positive: comfortable bed, good kitchenette, good location, clean overall.

The negatives: stuffy room, windows that open to back alley (and no air flow), poor bathroom, and noise from the restaurant next door that persists to midnight.

My "Single Ensuite" (135 AUD a night) faced the alley. Avoid any rooms that face this side, as windows open to a wall and there's just about no fresh air. The restaurant's kitchen noise persists well beyond opening hours.

It's possible that other room types are much better; I don't know.

Room Tip: Single Ensuite is NOT recommended. Do not stay on the side of the restaurant, and check this before...

On arrival we were welcomed warmly and given all the info required for our stay as well as a map and some handy tips for getting the most out of our short stay in Sydney. Room was clean and standard size. The bed was really comfy which is always very important. Bit noisy early evening but there are some fantastic restaurants/bars downstairs so you shouldn't be in the room anyway! Quietens down by bedtime/early evening. Location is ideal, about 15min walk to Kings Cross station. Overall highly recommend good value for money.

The location of the hotel is outstanding - it's so central to everything. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The only downside was the noise of the cafe next-door in the mornings. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the cafe next door as it can get noisy in the mornings otherwise.

Words to describe this hotel are... Wonderful, Cute, Great Location, AMAZING staff. If you are traveling to Sydney, stay here at the Maisonette in Potts Point. It was an incredible experience and I would recommend it to anyone traveling on a budget. Please make sure you ask for Giedre and Iveta! I was lucky to have met such kind, out-going, informative and funny ladies when I first arrived. I arrived early that day, and without hesitation, I was able to check into my hotel after a long flight to OZ. - Giedre and Iveta made my stay very enjoyable. They genuinely care about their guests and will go to great lengths to ensure their guests are happy to the best of their ability.

Please note... if you are expecting the Westin, Shangri La, Mandarin Oriental or any Kempinski properties, this is not the place for you. High maintenance people, go somewhere else. This is a place for chill people who just need the basic essentials (tv, shower, toilet and a bed).

Thank you Sydney, Thank you Maisonette and thank you Giedre & Iveta for making that the most amazing 30th Birthday Vacation ever!! -- I will return and next time Im bringing friends!

Love always,
Richard Chan.

The hotel is small but very comfortable... the rooms are small too but comfortable & clean. If your room faces the street it can be noisy, but it quietens down once the restaurants below close at night. It is located in a very lovely area & very central to explore Sydney!

The Maisonette should be described as apartments rather than a hotel. The reception desk is only open at certain times and there is not a daily cleaning service although towels are replaced daily.

We arrived at the hotel and there was a sign up to say 'back in 5 mins' so we waited until someone came to let us in. We checked in and the girl at reception was very helpful. She gave us a map and told us we could get the 311 bus from just up the road to straight into the city centre. She also showed us the best route to walk to the centre and advised us to pick up a bus pass from Woolworths. (We got a weeks pass for $44 which gave us access to all local buses, trains and ferries, very good value for money!!)

We went up the stairs to our room. There is no lift but luckily we were staying on the first floor so didn't have too far to haul our luggage up.

The room was quite small, we didn't expect a huge room so this didn't bother me too much. The room was a bit dull with colourless bed covers and decor. even just a bit of colour or a picture on the wall could have made a very dull room quite nice! The room looked on to a brick wall which was a pity as the room was very dark and dull.

There was a microwave,a fridge and a kettle for basic eating requirements. There was a wardrobe with about 6 coat hangers in it so we couldn't hang much of our stuff up. There were no drawers so we had to live out our cases for a week.

The bathroom was small but it was ok for us. The shower was not contained and it made the bathroom floor soaking wet which was a bit annoying. The shower was good though, plenty of hot water and it was pretty powerful.

The wifi is a bit pricy, having stayed in many other places that offer it for nothing. It is $12 for one day, $20 for two days or $26 for 3 days. We just went to bars that offered free wifi to use the Internet!

There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Because of all the bars etc nearby, it can be very noisy at night time.

The Opera House is a nice 10-20min walk through the Botanic Gardens or a short bus trip but the bus is not the most regular service.

If you are not going to be spending too much time in your hotel then I would recommend the Maisonette based on a great location and reasonable price. The big downfalls for us were the dull room and the noise outside.
