Nice, clean hostel. Unfortunately (for us) too far from the centre.

We actually started our time in Australia here, and really enjoyed it! The hostel is nice and clean, the bathrooms were fine. We had a twin room, and everything was exactly as you'd expect. Very secure, friendly staff, and Glebe is a fantastic area, very peaceful and a lovely atmosphere.

The hostel is also just two minutes from a park and lovely waterside, which is an added bonus! Ok, Glebe is a short distance from the city, but has all it's own amenities, and the walk to town is very pleasant, especially if you walk along the water edge towards the fish market! If you don't fancy walking, the bus runs a very regular service up here!

Sydney is a very busy city, would recommend this to anyone who wants something a little quieter!

Glebe YHA is a decent option for a few nights in Sydney. The main problem / benefit (!) is the location, depending on what you're looking for. Glebe is a lovely area, a 10 minute or so bus ride from Central, but the YHA is towards the end of Glebe Point Road, and if you're coming back late, or need to get into the city quickly, it's not ideal. However there's some really good food and drink options (the Thai place just down the road is great and the Glebe Deli cafe is also lovely).

The hostel is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's good value. You will need a travel card though (approx $43 for a week with a My Multi Pass, which you can buy from the hostel). Check out buses before you arrive so you don't make the mistake of walking there from Central like I did after a 12 hour bus ride..

4 share dorms are quite small and do get quite hot (single fan only), but there is a sink in the room which is handy, and free lockers. I still object to paying for wifi but this is true of all YHAs it seems (they're on the Global Gossip network).

The roof terrace is nice, and the downstairs lounge area is cool. There are also computers available ($4 per hour).

Overall it's a good option but I would probably recommend the YHA Central over it.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 4 nights in a double room (no ensuite). The room was clean and exactly what you'd expect and the bathroom was just across the hall and was fine.

The hostel is a little out of the way of the city centre, but the bus stop is right outside and the tram is only a few minutes walk away so you can get about very easily. The staff we extremely helpful and very friendly. The local area is also very good, lots of cafe's etc and a great market is held weekly.

Its not in the city centre, but that's the point, its in a really nice area with some nice pubs and really good atmosphere. There are good bus links from here. The rooms and kitchens are really nice and the cleanliness is above average for an australian hostel. I found it one of the best hostels in sydney, but tbh the competition wasnt wasnt that strong!

We were very impressed with the location and services provided by Glebe Point. The staff knew all about the local area and the best way to explore it. The room (private) itself was clean and spacious with a sink and kettle. The shared bathroom was one of the best we expereinced, as was the kitchen area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

This hostel is in Glebe, an are located just off of downtown Sydney. It is WAY cheaper than Central Sydney YHA and the other YHA's more centrally located. There are many buses gonig directly downtown, every 10 minutes, stop is right in front of the hotel, you can even walk downtown alongside the harbour. Its much more comfortable and friendly here. If you need a hostel in Sydney for only a few days, maybe stay cebntral, but if you plan on staying longer and only want to pay 27 a night, stay here!

I lived in Australia for a year, and every time we stopped through Sydney we stayed here after learning it was much cheaper and great location in comparison to other overpiced YHA's. Stay at Central to meet people initially, but stay at Glebe long term or after you know some people. Loved this place!

Room Tip: No A/C in room... but there is a large comfy living room blasting the A/C all day & night
