“Quirky Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

What a place!! This is a stunning new hotel and all credit to the designers and staff. Located right in the heart of Sydney, you'll love staying here from the time you're greeted by the staff to the stylish retro decor. Beautifully decorated with excellent facilities.
Spoil yourself and give this one a go. This is a sexy hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are very appealing. Stay in the Gowings wing and if you can get a room as high as possible...

Hey BandD_12,

So awesome to see another 5 star review! It really makes us so happy. Thanks for taking the time to write to us about your stay, and thanks also for spreading the QT love online so that other travellers might come and check us out too.

I adore the polished hardwood floors on the Gowings side of the hotel, but I also love the theatrical decor of the State Theatre side, so I am very torn.

We would love to see you again next time you are in Aus.

This is a hotel that strives to out do anything you have seen or stayed at before! From the meet and greet at the door, the elevator experience to the concierge, the atmosphere you are enveloped in within minutes of arriving will stay with you forever. If you not have stayed at a QT hotel before do yourself a favour and stay there - this hotel will blow your mind! Lead in room size is more than comfortable with bigger than average living space and open plan bathroom. Room service, restaurant and bar areas are all of high quality, leaving you satisfied and delighted with price you have paid. There is no aspect of this hotel that leaves you wanting including having an amazing location in Sydney city. An incredible stay for anyone wanting a unique experience.

Dear Jane S,

'Tantalising'. That is one very great word to describe what is on offer at QT. From the food to the decor. The rooms are enormous aren't they?! It is incredible to see such large rooms in the Sydney CBD. Yes, I am biased of course, but before we had the QT I did stay in a lot of CBD hotels and we really do up the ante on lead in room types!

Thanks for your lovely notes about the staff. We really appreciate it.

Please come back soon.

The Hotel is very new and has a very nice and stylish ambiance. The rooms are not cheap (but waht is in Sydney?), the size of our room (a normal King Room) was ok but not very big. Although we had a reservation for a Deluxe King room they gave us a normla King room what I only found out after we had gone. And they charged us for a Deluxe Room though. That is the reason why the rate is not better, as the Hotel itselfs deserves at least a 4 Star rate. The Bar is very nice with a great Bartender and teh Restaurant is also very good. The location is in teh middel of downtown and in walking distance to almost everything.

Room Tip: Certainly on a higher level because of the traffic in front of the Hotel as it is directly downtown.

Hi Mreisegern,

Amazing - I just responded to a review on how great our lead in room types are in terms of size. Thanks for your notes on the rooms. It is really important to get both side of feedback so we can work out the middle :)

Thanks also for the lovely notes on the staff, we really appreciate it.

We hope you visit again.

I finally chose to stay at this place for a bit of fun, after continually walking past it everyday during work hours.
My lady friend and I really appreciated the beautiful interior design. A lot of thought has been taken to mix-and-match old with new, clean with grungy, and funky with elegant.
First off, enter the lobby- the lovely hosts greeted us and directed us to where we needed to go.

Stayed in the King Deluxe Room. Beautifully furnished, you're greeted to a large but intimate space, funky lounges, sexy/ambient lighting and eclectic ornaments & pieces surround the room.
The bed was perfect, not too soft or hard. The bathroom was simple with candles along the wall, Japanese style bath and shower.
Ordered room service both mornings we were there. Dinner at Gowings, was really impressive, yet understated. Try the mango mousse!

Cocktail bar had a live DJ mixin' tunes all evening which really added to the vibe.

Although I live and work only 10 minutes from this hotel. I would stay here again in an instant. By the, end i was ready to move out of my place and into the hotel permanently.
The staff, food, rooms, bar- everything was awesome. The perfect place for a sexy getaway.
This place is seriously cool.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe king room

Dear tjlala,

Fresh.Sexy.Cool.Fun. EXACTLY! Sorry about the capitals, and I wasn't yelling at you, I'm just so excited that you marked the hotel with those four words. It is (no BS) exactly what I tell people when they ask me to briefly describe the hotel.

I want to move it too! Maybe we can timeshare lol.

Thanks so much for a great review and we would love to see you back with us.

What a wonderful change from the typical, sometimes clinical 5 star hotels.A fantastic new hotel for Sydney.
This place is a collectors haven - a museum in itself! Every nook and cranny is home to an interesting find.
Treasures abound everywhere and could be reminiscent of the items you once played with or used as a kid, ( eg the old Globite school case!) or a collection of Grandma and Grandpa's cast-offs, items from your local street cleanup, garage sale or even an up - market antique store! No doubt all treasures carefully arranged under the watchful eye of a well trained interior designer.
Greeted by the theatrically dressed "Director of Chaos" (Concierge) we caught the lift up to the foyer which housed more treasures and large comfy sofas, to the spacious and superbly decorated room, comfy beds, spacious and sleek modern bathroom with a separate shower and bath. Exactly as shown on the website for the deluxe king / twin room.

Located in the old Gowings building, next to State Theater, which makes it as central to town as one could get - close to the Tower, Shops and Westfields. Rocks area and the MCA a short walk away.
The hotel renovation is sympathetic with the old Sydney landmark and maintains many features of the original building - wooden floorboards, high ceilings, old signs etc.
Check in was smooth and staff friendly and professional. Breakfast is chosen from an Al-a-carte menu and was a treat of organic produce cleverly designed, prepared and presented. No boring buffets here!
It is common knowledge that Sydney hotel prices are high compared to other cities in the world, however you do get what you pay for! We had a fantastic family stay here and agreed it was a treat. Do yourself a favor, treat yourself on a special occasion, or enjoy some family time in a great city!

Dear travelmumSydney,

Whopeeee! Another 5 star review from a Senior Contributor. You do travel a lot. I want to swap lives. Just kidding - I love my life, but I would really, really love to have travelled to all of the places you have been over the last three years. London, and Paris, and VIetnam - Oh My!

I digress. Fantastic review. Gorgeous description of the decor. Awesome feedback on the dining options.

Please come back. We miss you.

This is a new hotel with a great sense of history and fun. It is a complete renovation on the site of the old Gowings department store. The renovation is a mix of quirky, retro, goth and modern influence but it works beautifully. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and the beds are both generous and extremely comfortable. Given its newly established status it is still working through some minor teething issues (a leak, broken tap and baggage handling issues) but these were only minor distractions from the very positive overall experience. If you are looking for something different for a stay in the centre of Sydney this is well worth it.

Dear GregC,

Thank you for a wonderful review of our property. It is fantastic to hear that you loved the decor and amenities, and that we delivered on our designer promise.

Thanks also for being understanding regarding the hiccups with the tap and baggage. We are working on getting everything right 100% of the time, but it does take time as you mentioned.

We would love to take care of you again, and promise no more leaky taps!

We stayed at the QT Hotel just after New Year and had a great time. The staff are fantastic and the rooms were amazing, large comfortable bed in the middle of the room with a huge bathroom with a slipper bath. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants something a bit different for their stay.
