DO NOT stay here!!!The photos bear no resemblance to what I saw! I arrived late at night - too late at night to find anywhewre else. i would have tried but the drunks and hookers outside put me off. Austalian youth hostels are normally so friendly but i got no welcome and was not even told by the grumpy receptionist where anything was not even where my nearest toilets were (they were not even on my floor) and this place is a huge old tower block. I forked out quite a lot of money for a double room for my last night in Australia and was horrified. The room was so filthy i left the light on overnight so the bugs wouldn't come out. The bed-sheets looked dirty. The curtains and furniture were old and dirty too. The communal showers had obviously been renovated at some stage but were really dirty too with old plasters (band-aids) lying in the corner. Even the funky looking communal areas were old and tatty looking too. Its a place that obviously was souped-up a few years ago but no-one has cleaned it since..and they obviously don't tell you they haven't got around to modernising all the rooms. One of the worst experiences in Australia. What happened to the place in the photos?!!!

To start with this hostel is in a bad location.It seems after 5pm all the workers in this part of the city head home leaving the area a bit of a ghost town.The staff at the desk, who buy the way weren't Australians were almost rude and irritated buy my presence.This place lacks a backpackers atmosphere and is way over priced for what's offered.The rooms were reasonable and the bathrooms satisfactory.It's located near a tourist trap rip off called Darling harbour, which should be avoided at all costs.I left after my second night and stayed at a hostel by central station.Much nicer.
