we spent a fortnight at the woolbrokers in Sydney. The major plus points are the location - it's literally round the corner from darling harbour and a 1/3rd of the price that the novotel and Ibis charge. More importantly I've never received such warm and friendly hospitality in a hotel anywhere ever. Nothing is too much trouble for Sandy and Caroline who run the place. Just a few examples of this - we were upgraded free of charge to a room with a larger bed because we were both tall, they gave us food on a few occasions without charge, lent us DVDs to watch, helped find a dentist for my husband when his filling fell out, helped us with car bookings, taxis to the airport and suggestions on places to go. They were simply superb and if they are still running this place next we go to Sydney we'll definitely be staying there.

Other plus points about the hotel - the standard breakfast is a bit basic and repetitive but you can order enormous yummy cooked breakfasts, there's a laundry in the hotel and ironing boards and irons dotted around which came in handy and an internet terminal. The shared toilets and bathrooms are kept clean and overall it's a tight run ship.

The decor isn't brilliant but it's clean and hey you are paying $89 a night and the location is fantastic. you are near a monorail, a tram stop, darling harbour is 2 seconds away, there's good restaurants and shops nearby in either direction and outside of the hotel and up the stairs is a walkway that brings you out into the centre of Sydney.

what more can I say, I loved the place. A few 5 star hotels I know would do well to come and take lessons in customer service from these guys.

Can't beat this location. Across the street from the Novatel Hotel in Darling Harbour but is hundreds less in price. Granted this is not an opulent place, but who cares, it would be criminal to sit in your room instead of seeing the sights. Very convenient to the action and you don't need to be near Circular Quay to catch ferries since they leave from Darling Harbour as well. Can't beat this area for restaurants, bars, entertainment, etc etc.

Caroline, Peter, and Sandy couldn't be any more friendly or helpful. I'd return just to see them again!

Breakfast is adequate and don't worry about the shared bathrooms. There are so many bathrooms, you'll never have to wait.

Have a great time in Sydney!

It is hard to imagine a better value than the Woolbrokers if you are staying in Sydney. The place is super clean and the staff is very helpful and the rates are more than fair. I have stayed here 3 times for about 3 days each time and have had wonderful experiences. The location is very close the the action of Darling Harbor and its sights. Highly recommended!!

My family has stayed at this bed and breakfast 3 times and everytime we have had a fantastic stay. The staff are wonderful and the location is perfect, you only have to walk across one quiet road and you are in Darling Harbour and at the Monorial which will take you right into the city. Breakfast consists of toast and cereal which you help yourself to and the accommodations are warm and inviting. The bathrooms are communal but every stay we almost had a whole floor to ourselves - this is Sydney's best kept secret! Be sure to consider this B&B when you next visit!
