“Simply not good enough!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

When i book a twin room, and the hotel accepts my booking, I expect a twin room.

I don't expect to be called a half an hour before check in to say that they've double booked and yadda yadda yadda. There is NO excuse for doing this. It's NOT brain surgery to mark off the room as booked so as to avoid double-booking.

When either my wife or I have to sleep on the floor because of the messed up booking, AND we have to pay for the privilege, it's NOT acceptable. Add to that the fact that the apologetic staff said that they would discount the room, and then FAILED to do so is just poor management.

The breakfast is poor to middling. The cheese offered is that "plastic" bright orange cheese slices that are probably the genesis of the next mutant race of humans that will dominate the earth. The help yourself coffee is that filtered "stuff" that was typical decades ago.
Cereal choice is poor. No eggs etc.

For nearly $200 a night I'd like the bed I reserve, and at least a decent coffee! Pod machines are cheap enough to invest in.

The staff is very pleasant, but failure on the critical stuff = failure to satisfy the customer.

I wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel is very cute , like a little manor , very British .
There is a nice lounge were you can rest, watch TV , drink free coffee or tea .
The only thing the room is quite small not so much place to open your suitcase but charming with old furniture where they even hide the mini bar ....
The breakfast is included but nothing fancy , not even eggs .
A good choice of restaurant not far and many clubs for gay people , we didn't knew that when we booked .

The staff were helpful and made the stay comfortable and pleasant, thank you John and Raz. The room (suite) was clean, well appointed and comfortable.
The room decor a little dated and could do with a refresh. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Breakfast could have had fresh fruit instead of tinned fruits.
Location was perfect for us, bus stop directly across the road for trips to the harbour, restaurants and cafes were in walking distance with a great choice in either direction.
The shower in the bath was difficult to get the water on without getting your hair wet and if you are unsteady on your feet it is a little difficult to get in and out of.

Room Tip: Choose a room up stairs away from the staircase, the suites are best.

This hotel has the feel of being at home, if your home is a large Victorian house.
The staff are friendly and helpful with a map of the local area.

They make sure your stay is as smooth as possible.

Oxford street is a short walk and some good pubs nearby.

Only 20 mins from the airport.

Room Tip: The front room gets lighting from the street so one of the other rooms may be better if you like a d...

Nice hotel, nice staff, excellent location for our requirements. We stayed a week. Room was quite (very!) small, but clean & well-appointed. We had a suite for the last couple of nights, which was much better.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the ground floor rooms on the right of the corridor. Small, and can be a bit noisy.

This hotel was a really convenient walk to the uni, where I was attending a conference. Some good nearby options for food and breakfast. The room itself was not the one I booked (a balcony room). I was instead in a room downstairs, which I found quite musty smelling. It was really small and dimly lit. The shower was for disabled access, so was essentially a drain hole with a shower curtain to pull around. The thing that I particularly disliked was the smoke detector directly above the bed head, with an annoying light directly above the pillow. I know we need them, but surely it could be ANYWHERE else in the room than directly above the bed?!
Overall, convenient location and reasonably priced, but 'boutique' translated to small and slightly musty smelling.
