“Unique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

Fabulous hotel. I have stayed in this hotel about 10 times over the last few years. Being a converted heritage warehouse, each room is very different. I prefer the rooms to the side and away from the road at the front. The rooms on 2 levels are cool and funky but can be a bit on the small side. The grey tiled bathrooms are a bit grubby with mould and need a bit better clean but may be they could do with a bit of a refurb. That may be happening now that Taj hotels have pulled out I suppose and new owners have taken over. Really top notch, quality breakfast. It can get a bit noisy if there's a wedding or party going on in the bar area. The lifts are also painfully slow. You have no choice to use the lifts though as there's no obvious stair case. The swimming pool is small but a great asset. I love the place and will go back.

Room Tip: Avoid the front of the hotel as the busy road can be noisy.

Dear Olig,

Thank you so much for your review, and your continued patronage.

You are correct that Blue Sydney is now an Ovolo Hotel. Ovolo are based in Hong Kong and are a new innovative lifestyle-brand hotel.

There are exciting things happening at the property in 2015 including a multi-million dollar refurbishment. After the re-launch, guests will have an exciting array of new inclusions when they stay with us.

To find out more visit the Ovolo website to see what exciting things you can expect in the future.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

We enjoyed a 4 night break from pre-Christmas madness here. The room was well appointed and beds comfortable, the bathroom huge with separate big bath and shower. Walking distance from Potts Point, the Opera House and with bus access to Central station and Circular Quay. Next to Naval base so an interesting side show of shipping and a vast array of high end restaurants along the wharf made to a fun few days.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms are quieter when functions are underway. Probably not suitable for disabled or el...

Dear JennyWandP,

Thank you for staying at Blue Sydney, and for taking the time to post this review after your stay with us.

Woolloomooloo is certainly an interesting, diverse and beautiful part of Sydney. So close to the CBD whilst seemingly miles away hovering over Sydney Harbour.

With pools, parks, cafes, restaurants and even a naval base nearby, you are certain to see an array of different activities all the time. Sitting at one of Sydney's best restaurants on our doorstep and people-watching is a favourite hobby of mine - when I get the time!

I do hope to see you again soon, and that the madness soon subsides to an enjoyable time for you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

Having recently experienced Blue Hotel for several nights, we are switching from our usual 4.5 star CBD lodgings and making Blue Hotel our preferred accommodation supplier for all Sydney business travel. The rooms are large, quiet and contemporary. The staff were friendly and supportive and, with so many great restaurants nearby, the Woolloomooloo location served us well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A hotel this excellent is definitely worth recommending to friends and business associates.

Booked a last minute deal through an online service, calling hotel directly did not yield a cheaper price. Reception Staff also gave misinformation about breakfast, we were informed the hotel does not do breakfast yet it is there in the hotel restaurant.

We booked the deluxe pier view loft, and the room itself is quite large with two separate living areas and a second toilet.
The Bathroom however is not, in fact very squashy, and i would not like to attempt a shower if I were over 6 foot, the ceiling is that low.

The view out of our Window gave straight on to Harrys Cafe De Wheels, and the service station in Woolloomooloo, so 'pier view' was a bit of a stretch. However, the location itself was great for our purposes, and it is a quick walk into the city, Mrs Macquarie chair, Botanical Gardens and the Opera House.

Downstairs from the hotel, on the pier are many classy restaurants teeming with people, yet none of this can be heard from inside your room. These provide good lunch and dining options if the hotel restaurant doesn't take your fancy.

Staff were helpful, and courteous. Room was clean and tidy, common areas also clean and tidy.

Dear Mojo_aus,

Thanks very much for stopping by and reviewing Blue Sydney. The team and I realise there are many accommodation options to choose from, and appreciate that you picked us.

Rate parity is a common practice you will find in most hotels these days, meaning that all websites and property direct rates will all match. This way you can choose any form of booking channel knowing that the Best Available Rate will be on all of these. The bonus with booking direct with us is no booking fees and more flexibility with changing bookings should the need arise.

I am sorry to hear that you got given incorrect breakfast information. It is fairly straight-forward so cannot imagine why this was the case. I have however briefed my Front Office Manager and all staff will be reminded of our operating details.

For your next stay I can recommend a Marina View room if a nice view would round off your ideal experience. Feel free to let us know when you will be back and I will see what we can do for you.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

Great location within walking distance of the city, the harbour, botanic gardens and Kings Cross. Fantastic views back over the city from the one side of the hotel. The rooms are large and well equipped. Service was good. The pool and gym are nice - once you've found them (no signs!). Gripes? No free WIFI in the rooms - whilst there is supposed to be free WIFI in reception it was really poor......the only other thing lacking really is any outdoor space, however there are plenty of good restaurants on the wharf right outside and you are on the edge of the botanic gardens.

Dear IBB241,

Thank you so much for choosing to stay at Blue whilst in Sydney.

I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your spacious accommodation and found the location to be perfect for all of your needs.

Marina side views certainly do offer slightly better views at just a little extra cost. Perfect if it is your first time to Sydney, or staying with us for a while.

I do hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

I stayed at the Blu by accident and what a lucky accident it was. Maybe it is slightly away from the Sydney center but the rooms could not be nicer---modern, large, great amenities. The renovation of the old wharf is spectacular and the service impeccable. if your plans take you to Sydney, you cannot do better than the Blu

Dear Frank R,

Thank you so much for your review pertaining to your recent 'unexpected' stay. I am delighted that you were greatly pleased with our beautiful property.

Whilst the hotel is still indeed very nice, it will become AMAZING next year once our multi-million dollar refurbishment is complete.

I hope you can visit us after this and see what an awesome property we will become with great inclusions for all guests and extra services on offer.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni
