“Outstanding Stay in Sydney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

The Hotel "Blue" is quite amazing... The location is great: directly on the water, in a quiet area within walking distance to the city and the opera...The old wharf architecture makes this hotel a very special place. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Defintely one of the a great place to stay in Sydney!

My husband & I stayed 2 nights at Blue sydney in November in a loft apartment and it was great. The room was big enough to have some guests over, rooms were clean, service was good and the views were good. Great location being right on the wharf with all the restaurants and great location for anyone going to harbourlife festival at mrs macs point.

The only thing I can fault is the valet, there isnt anywhere to park your car because there are alot of taxi's and then the wait for your car to arrive took awhile but apart from that a great weekend.

Beautiful hotel, we stayed in one of the Loft Rooms which was really cool. Nice views, great decor. Didn't get a chance to use any of the other facilities as was only there for one night but would definitely go back for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Loft room was really cool!

Very interesting hotel with modern decor set in historic building and the service is impeccable.
Stayed for aniiversary for the weekend and cannot make a negative comment on this fantastic hotel. The attention to detail is fantastic and we felt this from when we first arrived. The rooms are fantastic especially the bathrooms and the location and setting within the old wharf makes for a memorable stay. Would recommend to anybody.

Room Tip: If you want to splash the cash go for the city view rather than the garden island view.

Dear Andres V,

we sure seem popular with anniversaries at the moment. Congratulations to you also!

Thank you for taking the time to post this review, but for also choosing Blue for your special occasion.

The contrasting mix of old and new at Blue adds to its beauty and allure of which we are most proud.

I do hope we are able to welcome you back again in the near future.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

The BLUE Hotel in Sydney isn't especially new and is about to change ownership...it was completed in 2000, the year in which Sydney hosted the Olympic Games. But for orginality, style and the sheer audacity of the concept, it feels very 2014. The building is an old wool warehouse, long and narrow with many of the original features incorporated into the design.

I stayed for just one night but was deeply impressed. My split-level room(s) were on the top floor at the very front of the building with a sitting room below and bedroom above. Minimalist and unfussy in style but very comfortable; big bed, generously sized bathroom with all the extras you'd expect from a five star hotel.

Breakfast was served in a small section of the ground floor....not the widest choice perhaps but with the best coffee I've ever been served in a hotel.

Service was good and helpful and the hotel is clearly doing good business...I asked for a room for the following night because of a change in schedule but there was none available. Disappointing!

So if you're looking for something out of the ordinary which so neatly preserves an agricultural and trading heritage whilst at the same finding a meaningful place in the modern world, then the BLUE hotel at Wooloomooloo is for you.

Dear RB27952,

Thank you for such a flattering review of our heritage listed hotel.

You are correct with the change of management, Blue Sydney is now run by Ovolo Hotels. Next year, which coincidentally is the 100th anniversary of the building, will see a major renovation of all guest rooms and common spaces.

Fear not however as the beauty of this unique building will be enhanced as modern furnishings and fittings are installed that compliment the building's existing character.

It is an exciting time ahead for the hotel, and I hope you can share in this excitement with us.

Sincerely,

Adam Taloni

My partner and I celebrated our first anniversary at Blue in Woolloomooloo. We had an exceptional time, the hotel was very good. Service and attention to detail was very good and the loft room was very comfortable and we really liked the loft concept of upstairs sleeping.

The staff were accommodating to our needs, this is a five star hotel so we expected the five star price.

A very memorable first anniversary. Thankyou.

I stayed in a studio suite overlooking the marina. The building is very interesting and offers a change from the usual. All the staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. There is a great choice of restaurants on the quay right next to the hotel. A very pleasant 15 minute walk through the domain gets you into the heart of the city.
When we visited the hotel was in the process of changing ownership so I expect there will be some changes planned. I probably won't stay again simply because I think Circular Quay and the Rocks is more convenient for the leisure traveller.

Room Tip: Select marina view
