Simpsons is a large Victorian building with lots of character. The rooms and lounges all have high ceilings and are beautifully decorated and furnished. The location is an interesting alternative to the city centre or The Rocks. Our research showed those areas to be too noisy at nght and so we decided on Potts Point and Simpsons. We were not disappointed.
The location is a charming part of town not far from Kings Cross. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a short walk including a great Italian at the end of the street.
A 10-minute walk brings you to the Northern end of the botanical gardens which provides a delightful stroll down to the Opera House and Circular Quay. Another attraction just a few minutes away is the Wooloomooloo Wharf. This is the largest wooden construction in the world and houses many good bars and restaurants.
The host, Keith, was a mine of information and was very willing to help and advise. He took the trouble of learning all his guests names and made us feel very welcome.
The only criticism I had was that only a continental breakfast was available and that had only a limited selection.
If you are driving to this place, a sat nav would be a great help as Sydney is a bl***y nightmare to drive around.
