“wonderful stay in a quiet neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Simpson's was a very pleasant stay. Staff were helpful and excellent. Pott's Point is a green, leafy oasis near a variety of attractions. Just be aware that Pott's Point is a little bit out of the way from CBD and Circular Quay. A 20 min. walk through the wonderful Botanic Garden. This is a plus or a minus depending on your viewpoint. Also, no noise or spillover noted from King's Cross which is also pretty close. Breakfast was pleasant in a spacious seperate room...

This lovely family, from New York, with their three perfectly polite teenage sons, were a pleasure to have stay. with us.

They all seemed to enjoy their regular walk through the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens. Marie and I try to walk through these historic Gardens to the Opera House and back, at least twice a week, and each time we seem to find a different route! We never tire of the spectacular view of the harbour as you walk around Mrs Macquaries Point, and come face to face with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. A more interesting outlook of these icons than you get from the city itself.

There are free daily tours of the Botanic Gardens, which are especially interesting for our visitors from the Northern Hemisphere, to see all our different flora and fauna, and especially the impressive, but noisy, white cockatoo parrots, and the unusual " flying foxes" (fruit bats).

Wherever you are staying in Sydney, do try to spend time in these wonderful gardens.

“Beautiful place, ideally located, friendly owner-operators”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

My wife and I stayed at Simpsons of Potts Point for three nights. Truly an enchanting bed and breakfast boutique hotel with an excellent breakfast, comfortable rooms, and the warmest owner-operators! While not inexpensive, we chose Simpsons because it was so beautiful and ideally located: walking distance to Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, the Botanic Garden. It was an unmatched, wonderful experience! We highly recommend it!

“No 1 in Sydney does not disappoint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012 via mobile

Great hotel lovely rooms and the ever helpful Ree and Keith made our stay a memorable one.Kathy has made Sydney her No 1 city after our trip, thanks in no small way to Simpsons
It's a lovely small hotel such a lovely change from the big city hotels. Everything is spotless the residents lounge is a jewel we did not have time to fully utilise as we tried to get in all of Sydney highlights . Plenty of good quality dining nearby and a 20 minute walk to the botanical gardens and onto the opera house. A bus service takes you to the centre of Sydney also known as Circular Quay and stops just 200 yards from Simpsons
Ree helped to come up with lots of things for us to do within genuine enthusiasm for her City
Book Simpsons and you will be treated to a real gem.

How nice to hear that Sydney is now Number One city on this guests list!

It is a lovely place, both to visit and to live, and Ree, our friendly and bubbly live-in manager, and the rest of our team. really do enjoy showing our guests places to see and events to attend, that they otherwise may not do.

Thanks for your kind words.

“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Spent six nights at this hotel, we wanted to be close to the centre of Sydney and not at an impersonal large business hotel. The hotel is well situated just 20 minute walk through the Botanic Gardens to the Opera House and on a bus route into Circular Quay. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the style a mix of colonial / antique with interesting art work. The breakfasts were superb being served in the conservatory. Keith was a mine of information about trips and places visit, which meant we maximised our time in Sydney. The hotel is located in a stylish residential area with three fantastic restaurants at the top of the road. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Room eleven was a suite with an entrance area, separate dressing area, bathroom and shower, the bedr...

We are glad that these guests say that they would stay again! This is the best recommendation.....we do love returning guests!

Potts Point is a very convenient and sophisticated area, the closest suburb to the city itself, the " place to stay when you want to be in the City but don't want to stay in the City"! A pleasant 20-minutes stroll into town, which Marie does every morning to work.

We are also pleased that they enjoyed our healthy, complimentary, small breakfast buffet, which gives a good start for the day. However, for those who prefer a more traditional cooked "bacon and eggs" style, there are four great little cafes just 200-metres stroll up our street, and many more around the corner!

“We picked the perfect spot to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We like to walk the city and staying here made sense. We loved our room (5) and having a glass of port before going to bed. The breakfast was perfect for fueling us to walk the town and see the sights. Thank you Ree for saying "Your room is ready!" after the flight over the salty pond. You had coffee for us, a twinkle in your eye and you made us feel so welcomed. Staying here five nights was perfect to see what we wished to see. Thank You! Ginny & Jim Knott

Room Tip: We only saw our room....5...right around the corner from the breakfast room. It was very convenient.

How nice !

We also love that walk from Potts Point into the city, along the Harbour and through the park.

Last year during the whale season, a mother and her calf came into the harbour and gambolled around at the bottom of our street for an hour or so. And speaking of whales, another guest just last week came across on the ferry from Manly, and three whales raced alongside the ferry for ten minutes putting on quite a show for all the passengers!

Sydney is blessed by its natural harbour, and we are fortunate to live so close by.

Ree appreciated the compliment, especially the "twinkle in the eye!".

We do try to make our guests feel welcome and comfortable. Sometimes we may not have all the super-modern facilities of a chain hotel, but if guests are prepared to overlook a few faults inherent in a century-old mansion, then we can assure them of a pleasant stay in an interesting neighbourhood, and we will do our best to ensure that they have fun in this great city of Sydney.
