“Great place for New Years Eve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2011

After extensive research, I picked this hotel for our New Years Eve night in Sydney. The place turned out to be a perfect base to watch the fireworks in the harbor. We didn't watch from the hotel, although from the roof pool area you could probably see quite a few. Instead, we walked out to the tip of Yarranabbe park. That was an easy walk from the hotel, and an awesome place to watch the fireworks.

We went out there at noon and made a day of it with a picnic, etc. Unlike other places like the Opera House or Botanical Gardens, the park did not get overly crowded, and the view was fine. You could see the fireworks from the Harbour bridge and several barges. Best of all, the hotel was not too expensive for New Years Eve (book early). Hotels closer to downtown are extremely expensive for New Years.

Another nice thing about the hotel is that it's an easy walk to Kings Cross without actually staying in the Kings Cross area itself.

Nice hotel with ok sized rooms and bathroom, nice rooftop pool but not enough sunloungers. Was VERY expensive on New years eve for location (would NEVER stay in Kings cross again).

Really nice simple hotel. Everything done without fuss, clean and with helpful staff. Pool up on the roof is lovely and there is a lovely cafe set in the park by Rushcutters bay where you can go watch the wildlife and the affluant locals. If you like your city visits with a little bit more edge the kings cross is for you. Expensive to eat and drink out side of Happy Hours but this seems to be true for the whole of Sydney. Breakfast was really expensive so we didn't bother and the hotel did seem to be quite geared towards business but this didn't detract from our enjoyment.

Room was clean and staff were courteous but that's were it ended.
We stayed on a Saturday night so paid the higher rate of 370.00 with Breakfast included
Went downstairs for cocktail before heading out , sorry no cocktails , wanted a swim sorry pool closed , TV in room did not work.
Breakfast quality average and rooms small
I really think Australian hotels need to get with the program , they will continue to lose their local tourist to the overseas market when they provide such poor value for money.
You cannot charge full rate even in peak season when there is work going on in the hotel and you cannot use the facilities that you are paying for.
If that is the standard of all Vibes , will not be going back again

This hotel is need of a makeover ....very tired. Windows don't open, felt stuffy.
We had a inter connecting door in our room & thru this could hear everything happening next door including snoring .
The only thing going for it is location.

This is probably the most basic hotel that i have stayed in for a while. If you want to stay near Kings Cross or Potts Point then this hotel is very close by. It is near the Cross station and also if you walk the other way then you can catch the train to Bondi shops. This is not central Sydney a good spot if you want to be in the heart of hte nightlfe and live more like a local than a tourist. The room is very basic. SOme of the staff are helpful but most that I dealt with were not. On my last day there I returned to find a group Japanesse tourist staying with the door open in my room and someone from the hotel looking in there. THey had been given my room when I was still staying there This is not acceptable for safety reasons. THe staff member walked out of my room and offer no apology!! One other comment I woudl make is that the rooms are not sound proof, you can hear a conversation happening in the other room. Oh and the curtains still let the sun. All in all I would have to say I was not overly impressed with this hotel. I was here for work but stayed on in the hotel for a while, if I had a choice I would not stay here,

I got our King Standard room through an online deal which included breakfast for two and stayed three nights. The room was beautifully clean and while the view was not what you would call picturesque (facing an apartment building and train tracks across the road) the partner and I actually found ourselves quite entranced watching the bustle of Sydney from our peaceful little nook. The room itself looks quite small but that could be due to the bed - Oh the bed! Being a king size, it looks wider than it is long and was an absoloute dream to sleep on - a real plus if you don't like travelling or miss your bed. We struggled not to sleep in every day, just for how comfy it was! The bathroom was clean and modern and featured a shower and bath in one with good strong hot water, and the usual little hotel toiletries. A plus was the Room Service - food was basically the same price as eating at the Curve resturaunt so being the lazy cats we are, we ate in most nights and were called 'Miss' and "Mr' respectfully by all staff, which is a treat when you are twenty. All staff members were prompt, cheerful but also pleasantly casual which suited the hotel well. The rooftop pool has a beautiful view (there is also a very nice gym if you are inclined) and is a great novelty. The buffet breakfast was on par with every hotel I've been to so no complaints there. I would definetely stay again - for a decent price you get a nice, clean hotel that makes you at ease in an excellent location on the outskirts of Kings Cross. I was very impressed.
