“Great Hotel in Strategic Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We were enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location is great, it is walking distance to Opera House, Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Victoria Building, Westfield Shopping Centre and many other hot spot. Also, if you are traveling on your own without engaging a travel agency, I would recommend you Tay in this hotel as it is only 5 minutes walk to Wynard Train Station (to and from airport as well as connected to many other places/station). If you want to try to take the Ferry and enjoy the sea breeze, walk to Darling Harbour or King Street Wharf to hop on the ferry and explore. I would come back and stay again...

My husband and I stayed at the Grace and part of his birthday celebrations. We love the charm and history of the hotel. The rooms were good size and bed very comfortable. Our package included buffet breakfast which was good. Would stay again.

My wife and I arrived around 11pm after a long day in Cairns and a return flight to Sydney. The first thing we have to do is wait in queue for a guy asking about their internet. I must have looked very annoyed since the gentleman asked if he'd jumped queue. Unfortunately the poor young lady at the front desk was alone and had no support for trivial questions. Once it was our turn the lady checking us in was very polite and helpful, also explaining the internet policy and pricing. Before heading to the room I asked if we had a Neo Room and what it meant, she couldn't answer and right then I knew I had been suckered on the website when paying extra for the Neo Room.

Once arriving to the room my newly found fear was confirmed, the room was just a basic room and didn't standout in any way to call it Neo. Even worse was it had an adjoining door to the room next to me with very obviously poor insulation from noise. To make thing worse the people in opposing room had the volume high enough on their TV that we could here the show clearly. I promptly called the front desk and the moved us to a new room on the same floor. It was a bit worn, but an okay bed and we were able to sleep without hearing any neighbors which is the most important thing of all.

Would I stay here again, maybe, but I'd look into other options first.

Useful info…
Internet wifi isn't very good (slow and sometimes drops) and seems wifi and ethernet are different plans.
Wifi cost $25 AUD for 24 hours and allows two devices to connect.
Checkout is 11am and you can get a complimentary checkout of 12pm.

Room Tip: Get a room facing in for a room that will be quieter if you don't care about a view.

Dear GoGoGoGordon,

I appreciate you taking the time to write a feedback on your recent stay with us.

Please allow us to apologise for we have fallen short of your expectations during your stay. The Grace Hotel offers our guests Neo Room and these rooms have recently been refurbished with a luxurious walk-in shower access, new carpet was placed in these rooms with new furnishing.

You have provided us with a very constructive feedback that shows me the lack of training of our Reception team members especially in regards to our room knowledge. I will certainly reiterate the important of this to the team members.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and hopefully when you return to Sydney, you would consider us once again.

Kind regards,
Christina Mendieta

The Grace is an old style hotel which has been renovated. It's a bit old fashioned for my taste but it was clean and comfortable. Some of the decor, particularly the floor coverings, were a bit unnattractive but some dodgy styling won't stop me from staying somewhere.

The location is good - a short walk to Wynyard Train Station or the free city circle bus. Plenty of little eateries around as well as some pubs.

My friend checked in and picked up the keys and she said staff were pleasant enough. I found the same on check-out. The concierge will mind your bags if you don't have a room.

My friend and I stayed in a twin room on the 6th floor (Room 629). Lovely large windows overlooking the street and great block-out curtains. Bathroom is spotless and modern, no bath just a shower. It was hard to eat our room service as there was only one chair at the desk. Some pay TV channels but you have to pay for movies. You can hear some noise from the street at night but its not obtrusive.

Room service staff were lovely. Food was about average (Thai green curry and nasi goreng $22e) but the cocktails were nice $15 ea.

We also used the free fitness centre on level 12 which had great views over the city. It has a small pool, two treadmills and some other equipment including weights and one weights bench. Pick up a towel as you walk in.

Overall I would say this is a typical four star hotel. Its nice and clean and friendly but nothing exceptional. We paid $384 (total) for Friday and Saturday night which is relatively cheap for a weekend in Sydney CBD!

Excellent hotel in the centre of Sydney CBD. We booked through Wotif for a great rate and were very happy with our room. Rooms were clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. We were on a higher floor so it was very quiet even on a Friday and Saturday night. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Sydney!

If you want a lovely, old fashioned hotel right in the heart of sydney this is perfect. Walking distance to the CBD, darling harbour and circular quay.
Staff were very friendly, room was quite spacious and so was the bathroom.

Stayed at the Grace for a couple of nights after coming off a 3 night Christmas in July cruise. The hotel is always a good hotel to stay at in Sydney. Not too upmarket, but very comfortable and in a most convenient position for both dining and shopping. Also easy walking distance to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and the Botanic Gardens. Usually we only have eaten breakfast in the hotel, but this time we had the seafood buffet one night, which was quite nice and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely stay on more occasions at the Grace Hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends. Our room was large and the bathroom huge. Only one problem, the door stopper behind the bathroom door is in a dodgy spot, just in front of the loo. A perfect place for a toe stub if you are not thinking. Ouch, we both did it......
