“Nice but noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic spot. Staff ok - not overly friendly but not rude. We were in corner room on the 5th floor which was lovely and large but it was so noisy! I was convinced there must have been a window open! This probably wouldn't have been an issue in another part of the hotel.

We had breakfast included in our package. It was good with a lot of choice.

If I were to stay again I would ask for a quieter room!

Stayed at The Grace for two nights while visiting Sydney to see Black Caviar and The Adam's Family. Receptionist was very efficient and courteous while the concierge was most helpful in taking care of luggage and providing directions to Randwick race course.
Our room on the 4th floor faced King Street and would recommend these rooms as those facing York Street tend to be a little noisier at weekends due to other bars nearby.
Buffet breakfast was excellent, great range, very obliging staff ,eggs cooked to your individual taste and the best bacon I have had in any hotel.
The Seafood Buffet was OK and good value at $39- getting high quality , reasonably priced fresh seafood in restaurants anywhere in Australia is becoming more difficult. I guess you just have to go to New York or San Francisco!

The Pool and Spa only suitable for two people at a time but we were fortunate to have these to ourselves although the hotel was almost fully booked.
Great location for visiting most tourist attractions and many historical sites are close by and easy to access bus and train transport.
We got a great deal from Wotif -$149 per night which included full buffet breakfast and a late 1pm checkout which allowed us to visit the Archibald Prize Exhibition at the nearby NSW Art Gallery on the morning we checked out without worrying about luggage.
Will definitely be back.

Spent 4 nights at the end of a 3 week vacation/visit to family in NZ
Excellent service and quality of rooms/fitments etc.
Great location to walk to Darling Harbour and central shops
Staff very helpful and friendly
1 disappointment was the leisure facilities which we thought to be very substandard for this quality of hotel..

Although quite expensive, we really enjoyed the Grace Hotel. I injured my foot during our stay so we ordered room service for dinner and enjoyed the meal. The staff were very nice and the concierge very helpful. The location is perfect for Sydney, with everything within walking distance. The free CBD shuttle stop is a block away. The harbour was an easy walk with great restaurants. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but went up to take a look and wished we had time! The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We asked for a high floor room with a view and were happy to get it. They allowed us to check-in early, which was helpful as our train to Sydney arrived early and we were able to relax after a long ride.

The only negative would be the price of internet. We are on a trip around the world and this hotel has been the most expensive so far. It is an obvious gouge, which I resent, and strongly suggest they include wifi in the price of the room.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to get a view

This hotel is located within walking distance of Darling Harbor and Circular Quay and Sydney CBD.

It's a beautiful, old 1930s Art Deco hotel. I felt it reminded me of the Kowloon Hotel in Hong Kong, though I can't put my finger on 'why'.

The room I stayed in was HUGE for the price I paid. Two larger than single, not quite double beds, with a decent sized desk, TV, mini bar, wardrobe and large bathroom with hand rails.

Full buffet breakfast was also included.

The ONLY downside was the fact that I couldn't sleep until after 3am on the Saturday night as it seems my room was located directly above a nightclub/pub. The next morning, I worked it out to be PJ O'Brien's Irish Pub as this was the only facility nearby that fits this description. That, or I had some REALLY inconsiderate neighbours!

Overall, I felt the hotel was EXCELLENT value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the King St side of the hotel, where the pub is, or just don't stay...

Stayed here for saturday night April 6th. A very pleasant stay. Got to the hotel at 11am and our room was ready. Very quick & easy check-in. Staff friendly. The hotel is a lovely heritage hotel that has been tastefully decorated. Out room was a superior room with large king bed. Updated bathroom with large shower(no bath) which did not worry us for 1 night. I believe you can request a room with a bath if staying longer. We had a show to go to at Theatre royal which is close by. Also walking distance to Darling harbour, the Quay, QVB building. Breaky was excellant. Nice room with plenty of tables. After check out we wanted to spend the day in the city so it was no problem to leave our bag with concierge. Definitely recommend for such a reasonable price. Note that if you are staying longer and a visitor to Sydney, perhaps pay a little extra and get a hotel with a view.

Room Tip: We were on level 7 and heard no outside noise.

We stayed there from the 21-25 Mar. We were very impressed with the building, the hotel has been restored impeccably to the glory of the 20's; it is very clean + beds were comfortable. The hotel provides decent toiletries and we have no complaints about the room location at all (4 floor). The accommodation cost $$$ was ok, considering that 77 York St is right in the heart of Sydney, within walking distance to everything you need to see as a tourist + this is a luxury hotel. On level 11 there is a good spa and gym. In terms of services we found that the Wi-fi is expensive @ 25 AUD per day which could be adjusted to $15, as the current price is a rip off in my opinion. In saying that, definitely recommended and we will book again when returning to Sydney.
