“great place for history and browsing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

This is the oldest part of Sydney and has historical significance. It is also loaded with quaint shops and restaurants. On Saturday there is an open air market with tons of stalls selling a variety of merchandise. It just is a fun place to stroll around.

“Must See in Sydney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Don't miss this. The history is fabulous and there is so much to learn about early Australian life from the Rocks. Most of the old streets and houses are still there just as they used to be. There is an EXCELLENT little museum there and loads of good eateries. It is like stepping back in time; I especially loved it because I'm enthralled by Australian history. I loved learning about the first hospital, walking the "Nurses Walk" and the "Surgeons Walk". What a lot of stories those old walls would have to tell. If you are bringing someone to Sydney, this visit must feature on the agenda. There is also an amazing market there, very much reminiscent of the Salamanca Market in Hobart. It may be open every day till the mid-afternoon, not quite sure. I got a couple of fantastic handmade jigsaw puzzles there, original and very interesting scenes. Book a tour if you can in order to learn more. Don't forget the museum. What a great place it was!

“A really great place for visitors!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

Great mixture of architecture, markets, alleys, cafes, restaurants, museums, street musicians, buskers, hotels. Views over the harbour. Close to Circular Quay and all the ferries, and to the main berth for ocean liners.

“Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

A little touristy, but this is a great place to walk to from the Opera House. Fun also to see the people walking the bridge directly above you!
