“Worth visiting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

I stayed at Darling Harbour, was a bit doubtful as it wasnt near circle quay. Neednt have worried, it was great with loads going on and café s and restaurants to suit every budget. Getting ferries around so easy and you get the added bonus of the views of harbour bridge and opera hose every time you get the ferry. Recommend staying there.

“Something for Everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Darling Harbour has undergone a lot of changes recently and all for the better. You need to allot a few hours even a day when visiting because there is just too many activities and sites to see. You can either walk the whole way through or take one of those mini trams that goes around. There's a whole strip of new restaurants from different country origins called Darling Quarter and there is more available parking. The Cockle Bay Wharf is another strip of restaurants in the other side. There are so many attractions to visit like the Chinese Gardens, Madame Tussaud museum as well as The Australian Maritime Museum. You can also hire some speeds boats for a nominal fee to take you around the harbour and see the Sydney Opera House, Luna Park and the Harbour Bridge from the water. Passing under the Darling Harbour Bridge is also an experience not to be missed. Enjoy the restaurants overlooking the harbour. Try also not to miss the fireworks in the harbour on the weekends. Shopping is another thing to enjoy with lots of shops for souvenirs.

“the heart of the city (for tourists)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

I had an hotel in that area. Very central, making simple dining, taking public transportation or just having some rest looking at the bay

“Activities for all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Our tour driver said that Darling Harbour is part of a huge city revitalization project. Darling Harbour is a success story of that project. The harbor walk starts at the Chinese Garden of Friendship. There was a festival going on at the garden which is the reason we got off the tour bus to explore on our own.

The festival turned out to be mostly food. With no indication of gluten content, we didn't stay at the festival for more than a few minutes.

Our walk took us to a childrens park with water features. Beyond that, there was a zoo, a wax museum, an I-max theater, Gelato shop and cafe's without number. There is a naval museum, tall ships, submarines, paddle boats, etc. You name it, they have it from the Hard Rock Café to Spanish Paella. What a huge find.

“Great for a night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

It's worth taking a walk or ferry hop to Darling Harbour. It's smaller but packed with attractions. Shops, restaurants, a massive maritime museum and a fun Madame Tussaud's where you can take as many cheesy photos of yourself with famous figures as you like. The Cockle Bay Wharf side has the best restaurants but there really is something for everyone. Just people watching with a coffee is great way to pass the time. Stay until dark and see it come to life with everywhere lit up. I loved it!
