“Close to the waterfront”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

We have stayed at The York a few times now and have had a great experience both times. Check in was smooth and the rooms are large and well stocked with comfy beds. It is walking distance to Circular Quay, the Opera House and The Rocks and we did a round trip to Darling Harbour by catching a ferry and then a casual walk back to the apartment.

Good Apartment, modern, clean and spacious. We stayed in a one bedroom, the lounge room was spacious and comfortable with a big balcony and view of Harbour bridge. Kitchen was good, service also good. Only disappointment was e airconditioning units worked, but not very well, and the bathroom while functional, was not at the same standard as the rest of the apartment. We would stay here again.

The best thing about this place is the 1980s time warp. For those of us of a certain age there's something nostalgic about framed posters in 'oregon' wood frames, glass topped tables with chrome legs, soft apricot coloured carpet, wallpaper with little blue bows, brass lights that replicate the 40s? Sadly this will no doubt be renovated before it comes back in fashion. But the good news is that whatever they do inside, there will still be the Eastern Distributor. So if you like your highways, this is your place.

Great apartment and location too. The apartment is huge for a Sydney inner city location, it's clean and great views. Staff pretty good too. Easy train ride from airport to wynyard station although this cost ~ $17

We loved this location. The 2 bedroom apartment we had was very spacious. It was clean. Great facilities in the kitchen. Our particular apartment needs an update which I believe is happening. Not the most comfy bed we've stayed in but okay. Would stay here again. Very close to Wynyard train station which was handy. Five min walk to the Rocks/Cirqular Quay area. Five min walk to Westfield on Pitt Street/ Martin Place area. A little noisy with traffic but it's In the middle of Sydney so expected. Lovely and accommodating staff. The airport service bus they have is good value compared to the train.

The hotel is just steps from Wynyard Station and we got a discounted room which made it very affordable. Because it was so cheap, I didn't mind the outdated fixtures so much and the room had a great view over the pool. It has everything you need for a longer stay such as washing machine and dryer as well as a pretty big kitchen that you could actually cook in. It also has some nice touches such as robes and newspapers. The bed and pillows were super comfortable.

We stayed before the ANZAC Dawn Service and the desk staff at 4am who helped us with the free tea and Anzac biscuits was lovely!

Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: If you don't want an older style (but very cheap and with good facilities) ask if they have reno...

Really good sized apartment, with balcony, and fully fitted out kitchen / laundry etc. Really friendly service (although pretty slow when I was racing past to pick up my left luggage the following day). Breakfast not bad value for $20 (compared to many hotels). Lighting a bit dull in the living area (like most hotels!), and you would want a room as far from the lifts as possible - as the noise of people coming and going was pretty loud at night. Great location for central city / business meetings.

Room Tip: Stay away from the lifts - sound proofing is not great so could make for a noisy night.
